1. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, is dead. Report says the traditional ruler passed on at the age of 85 in a London hospital on Tuesday.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday named Brigadier-General P.T. Boroh (rtd.) as the coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.
3. Following the military’s effort to clear Boko Haram from Borno State, troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army have rescued 30 persons from the hands of the terrorists in Kwayabe and Wufe wards in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
4. No fewer than 29 persons were reportedly killed with many injured in Dille community and other surrounding villages of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno state when suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect attacked the area on Monday.
5. The internal wrangling in the All Progressives Congress, APC, and in the lower chambers of the National Assembly appears to be coming to an end as Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila was Tuesday announced as the Majority Leader of the 8th House of Representative by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.
6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday held Wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki for 6 hours at its office in Abuja. Mrs Saraki who is been questioned on allegation of corruption arrived the EFCC office around 12.20pm and left at about 6.15pm.
7. The leadership of the APC has commended the Speaker of House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara and his colleagues for resolving the crisis that almost tore the party apart. The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, gave the commendation at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, saying the party regrets the crisis.
8. The federal government has now promised to wade into the controversy surrounding the cut-off marks for students seeking for admission into universities. This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr MacJohn Nwaobiala.
9. The Senate on Tuesday, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Senate President, Bukola Saraki as well as his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, and other principal officers.
10. Following his effort to bring Boko Haram activities in the North East to an end, President Muhammadu Buhari will leave for Cameroun today to consult with the country’s president, Paul Biya on how end the insurgents’ activities. This was disclosed by the Presidential Spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina.
