1. Report has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari has trimmed down the number of federal ministries from 29 to 25. The ministries of Police Affairs, Aviation and Special Duties may have been scrapped following the development. The ministries of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Works have been merged to become Ministry of Works and Housing. On the other hand, Information, Culture, National Orientation and Tourism ministries may have been merged as Ministry of Information and Culture. Also, the Ministries of Sports as well as Youth Development have also been merged to form Ministry of Sports and Youth Development. The report further claimed that the Ministry of Aviation is now under the Ministry of Transportation.
2.In a more related development, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday retired 17 permanent secretaries and announced the appointment of 18 new ones.The new permanent secretaries are Mrs. Ayotunde Adesugba; Alhaji Mahmoud Isa-Dutse; Mr. Taiwo Abidogun; Dr. Bukar Hassan; Mrs. Wakama Belema Asifieka; Mr. Jalal Ahmad Arabi; Mr. Sabiu Zakari; Mrs. Obiageli Phyllis Nwokedi; Mr. Aminu Nabegu and Mr. Bamgbose Olukunle Oladele. Others are Mr. Alo Williams Nwankwo; Dr. Shehu Ahmed; Mr. Ogbonnaya Innocent Kalu; Mrs. Nuratu Jimoh Batagarawa; Mr. Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa; Mr. Bassey Apkanyung; Mr. Louis Edozien and Dr. Ugo Roy.
3.The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has apologized to Nigerians for disappointing them in the past 16 years, saying it was clear it had made serious mistakes in the past. Chairman, National Planning Committee of PDP reform conference, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, who spoke in company of members of the planning committee said PDP made errors but was ready to effect changes. He said one of their mistakes was the failure to allow a northerner to take over after the death of Yar’ Adua.
4. Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure it fulfils its campaign promise of paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians. This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the president’s wife on Media, Mrs Adebisi Ajayi, on Tuesday in Abuja. She equally advised the party to fulfill its promise of giving school children one free meal a day.
5. Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has reiterated that he does not take part in partisan politics anymore and as a result turned down the invitation extended to him by the Peoples Democratic Party to attend its rebranding conference scheduled for November 12. In a statement on Tuesday, Babangida said though he would have loved to attend the conference as a founding member of the party, he had since retired from politics.
6. Tension has continued to rise in the Federal House of Representatives following alleged moves by the caucus of the All Progressives Congress to remove the Majority Leader, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila. There was also plot to place some of his supporters on six months’ suspension. Consequently, two APC lawmakers reportedly engaged each other in a fight at the lobby of the National Assembly on Tuesday over the same matter.
7. Following Tuesday’s pro-Biafra protest in Rivers State, report has claimed that no fewer than three persons may have been killed by stray bullets after the protesters and security operatives clashed. Report has further claimed that security operatives have since taken over the state.
8. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned a former Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, Dr. Olufemi Omotosho, and four others before a Federal High Court in Akure on Tuesday for alleged involvement in an N84.8m fraud. Others arraigned are Adebayo Sunday Dada, Yusuf Saka Olarenwaju, Ogunleye Samson Adeyemi and Azeez Dayo Kola.
9. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Details of the meeting which held behind closed-doors inside the President’s office was not made public.
10. The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, Mr. Danladi Umar, has continue to face heavy ‘fire’ as the House of Representatives on Tuesday received two different petitions, alleging impropriety and abuse of office in the discharge of his duties.
