1. President Muhammadu Buhari has finally resumed at his office at the Presidential Villa.
The president on his resumption after some days of rest had closed door meetings separately with the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubkar Malami, aand the Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru.
2. Mysterious fire on Tuesday gutted the Palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu just few days after he publicly shunned the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. The Oba was however, rescued before the inferno was put out by firefighters from Illupeju division.
3. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has denied eyeing either Vice Presidential or senatorial position in 2019, saying that he will never seek any elective position again.
The Governor said his main preoccupation after his exit in 2018 is to continue to agitate for better treatments for the Nigerian populace from the federal and state governments.
4. Aisha, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that her husband’s health is not as bad as being widely reported in the media.
According to Aisha, her husband’s condition is not that bad as people think, stressing that the President can carry out his responsibilities.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari has frowned at the delay tactics by the National Assembly to stall the passage of the anti-graft law.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, quoted Buhari as saying this during his meeting with the president on Tuesday.
6. Nigerian Air Force Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has conducted a successful air interdiction mission on some remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists in a village, 3.42 km Northeast of Mangosum, Borno State, at the weekend.
NAF said the air strikes killed several leaders of the Boko Haram sect.
7. The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, has demanded for immediate resignation of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, over his inability to end the protracted crisis rocking the region.
The group also demanded for the investigation and prosecution of el-Rufai for owning up that he paid Fulani herdsmen.
8. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has barred eight banks from dealing in Small and Medium Enterprises to access forex window.
The financial regulator said it took the decision to bar the erring banks based on field reports, which revealed that only eight banks had sold forex to the SMEs segment since the inception of the new window.
9. Some Senator under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, frustrated moves to adopt and pass a report of the Conference Committee on the Establishment of the Nigerian Peace Corps (NPC).
The bill was forwarded to the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, “to consult and appropriately advice Senate on its next legislative action.”
10. In sports, Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid netted a hat-trick as his club pummeled their city rivals Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.
Atletico will host the second leg next week at the Vicente Calderon.
