1. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed minimum cut off marks for Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The minimum cut off marks for admissions into universities in Nigeria was set for 120, polytechnics and colleges of education pegged at 100. Innovative enterprising institutes was pegged at 110.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari has given security chiefs a directive on ongoing agitations in the country, saying they must ensure that Nigeria remains one.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin, stated this on Tuesday in an interview with State House correspondents after a meeting Buhari held with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
3. Concerned Militant Leaders (CML), a Niger Delta group, has vowed to disrupt the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
It also declared support for Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for their agitation for an Igbo nation as well as opposition to the Anambra poll.
4. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria, on Tuesday explained why it no longer issues visas to Nigerians.
The Embassy’s Charge d’ Affaires, Michel Deleen, said in Lagos that the Embassy had since 2013, swapped its visa issuance processes in Nigeria, with the French Consulate General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja.
5. A former Aviation Minister and spokesperson, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organization, Femi Fani Kayode has stated that even rats in Nigeria don’t want President Muhammadu Buhari back.
The former Minister was responding to Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, who on Tuesday, revealed that Buhari’s office was invaded by rodents.
6. Former Nigerian oil minister, Diezani Alison Madueke has lost more properties located in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja, valued at about N2.7 billion to the Nigerian government.
The houses seized included 21 mixed housing units of eight four bedroom penthouse apartment; six buildings of three bedroom apartments; two buildings of three bedrooms apartment and one building of four bedrooms apartment, all ensuite, located at 7 Thurnburn Street and 5 Raymond Street, Yaba. They were all valued at N937 million.
7. Former Minister of Petroleum and All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Chief Don Etiebet, yesterday, called on Nigerians to give President Muhammadu Buhari a chance, saying he means well for the nation.
According to him, Nigerians must be honest with themselves and shun the myopic thoughts of some power drunk politicians.
8. The Arewa Youth Coalition has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari over his insistence that the unity of the country is non-negotiable.
The group urged the government to conduct a referendum to provide an exit door for those who did not want to be part of Nigeria.
9. The United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC) Tuesday gave the Federal Government two weeks to improve the plight of workers, otherwise it will shut down the economy.
The ULC, among other things, lamented the poor remuneration for workers and failure of government to inaugurate committee for the negotiation of the new minimum wage, abuse and exploitation of Nigerian workers.
10. In sport, Spanish giants, Barcelona have sued their estranged player, Neymar for 8.5 million euros ($10m) over breach of contract.
In the lawsuit, the club demands the amount already paid as a bonus for the renewal of his contract for breach of contract, 8.5 million euros in damages, and an additional 10% in interests.
