1. The death has been announced of Former Nigerian Super Falcons midfielder, Ajuma Ameh-Otache.

The 33-year-old died on Saturday, November 10th 2018, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.

2. Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday revoked the bail of a former Governor of Abia, Orji Kalu, following his failure to appear in court for trial as scheduled.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Kalu together with his former Commissioner for Finance, Ude Udeogo and a Company, Slok Nigeria Ltd on charges of N7.2 billion fraud.

3. A fatal motor accident on Ushafa/Bwari expressway in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Monday morning claimed at least three lives, with many others lying injured.

The accident, which accord near Ushafa Bridge about 7:20 on Monday morning, was caused by a stationary trailer along the road.

4. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described the ban on hijab by the University of Ibadan International School (UIIS) as invitation to chaos and a threat to girl-child education.

MURIC in a statement on Tuesday pointed out that the ban provoked Muslim parents who protested at the gates of the school on Monday.

5. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of ordering the security personnel that searched his (Atiku’s) private Jet.

Speaking through the Atiku Campaign Organization in a statement yesterday, the former Vice President alleged that the deployment of security men was directly ordered by the President in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, being the only one so authorised to do so.

6. President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to five bills, including the Extradition (Amendment) Act 2018, Federal Capital Territory Appropriation Act, 2018 and Nigerian Centre For Disease Control And Prevention ( Establishment ) Act, 2018.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Sen. Ita Enang, disclosed this when he addressed State House correspondents in Abuja on Monday.

7. The minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has said that all teachers in the nation’s educational system without basic qualifications will be sacked by December 31, 2019.

The minister expressed President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to sustain and fund basic education sub-sector through the UBEC or support state governments, adding that over N258.5 billion has been expended on basic education in the country.

8. No fewer than 900 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa on Monday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan announced this while receiving the defectors in Kaugama, Jigawa.

9. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, has announced the “expulsion” of the party’s national vice chairman, North West, Inuwa Abdulkadir, for alleged anti-party activities.

This follows a complaint letter sent by a member of the party from his Magajin Gari Á’ward, Naibi Abubakar, to the ward chairman of the party accusing Abdulkadir of “continuous absence from party activities and meetings.”

10. The Federal Government has said an estimated 40 million Nigerians are believed to be suffering from mental disorders.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Abdulaziz Mashi Abdullahi, who stated this on Monday at the on-going mental health action committee and stakeholders workshop in Abuja, blamed the country’s high burden of mental disorders to inadequate attention paid to mental illnesses, misconceptions and lack of awareness on the part of the Nigerian public.
