1. The presidency has shortlisted an Assistant Inspector General of Police from Nasarawa State, Adamu Mohammed as a possible replacement of the retiring Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

If he gets the nod, it means other DIGs will be required to retire.

2. Suspected members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province, ISWAP, have invaded Rann, the Kala Balge Local Government headquarters in Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

It gathered that there was heavy gun battle between the terrorists and the Nigerian troops on Monday evening.

3. No fewer than fifty-five (55) female Muslim students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) International School Ogbomoso, have been barred from entering the school premises over the use of Hijab.

A senior lecturer in the school, who begged not to be named told DAILY POST that the 55 students were turned down by the institution’s authority for wearing Hijab on top of their uniforms Monday morning.

4. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned Dr Doyin Okupe before the Abuja Federal High Court in Maitama.

Okupe, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was arraigned before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on Monday in Abuja.

5. A Makurdi High Court on Monday restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission and the All Progressive Congress from substituting the name of Agada Austin as the APC candidate for Ogbadibo State Constituency election.

Justice Elizabeth Kpojime, while ruling on a motion on notice brought by Agada, particularly warned the duo against substituting Agada’s name with Mr. John Ali, his opponent in the fight for the ticket.

6. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday released the regulations and guidelines for the conduct of the 2019 general elections.

The 33-page document said Smart Card Readers (SCRs) and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would be used for the forthcoming elections.

7. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, have again lost some die-hard followers in the state.

This is as some bigwigs of the “Agburu Anyi” faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Governor Okorocha, have left the group.

8. Suspected armed bandits Sunday killed 26 persons, including a one-year-old girl at Warwana, Tabkin Kwasa and Dutsi villages in Gandhi District of Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Some of those displaced in the Sunday’s attacks were said to have been taken to IDPs camp in Gandhi town.

9. The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Akwa Ibom State, Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko, has called on the Nigerian Bar Association NBA, to ensure an immediate withdrawal of the suit filed against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnonghen.

He also called on all the petitioners involved to tender an open apology letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

10. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the present Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari lacks integrity and cared less about the well-being of Nigerians.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Board and Management of Independent Newspaper Limited on Monday at the Government House Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said the Buhari-led Federal Government is the most corrupt administration since the nation gained independence.
