1. President Muhammadu Buhari has refuted the reports in some quarters that he is on war path with the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Buhari, who described such rumours as unfounded and mischievous, insisted he was in constant communications with Tinubu before, during and after the Ondo governorship election last weekend.
2. Senate President, Bukola Saraki has debunked the reports that National Assembly is frustrating the submission of the 2017 Appropriation Bill because of the contention over the refusal of the presidency to approve the constituency project of the lawmakers.
Saraki in a statement recalled that throughout the debate at the plenary, no mention was made of the constituency projects of the lawmakers as it was not the subject of debate. Rather, the Senators took time to comment on the observed deficiencies of the MTEF/FSP document before the National Assembly.
3. There are feelers that a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, was at the Abuja office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday where he agreed to testify against Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and his aide, Mr. Abiodun Agbele. Sources within the anti-graft agency said the EFCC wants Obanikoro to testify against Agbele which will also build a strong case against Fayose who currently enjoys immunity. Obanikoro has reportedly agreed and will be listed as one of the EFCC witnesses.
4. Outgoing governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has sent his congratulatory message to the Governor-Elect, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN.
Mimiko in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, said it behoves on him as the Governor of Ondo State to congratulate the Governor-elect, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and “wishes him success in the challenging task of governing our dear State.”
5. The Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which produced Eyitayo Jegede as the governorship candidate of the party in the just concluded election in Ondo State has asked the candidate to go to court, claiming that the poll was marred by irregularities, even as it called for its cancellation.
It also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of complicity and said that the outcome of the election would be challenged at the election petitions tribunal.
6. The All Progressives Congress, Ondo State chapter has fired backed at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over its claims that its (APC) agents induced voters with money during the just concluded governorship election in the state.
The party in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro challenged the PDP to provide video evidence that it actually lured people with money during the poll.
7. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained why the six houses confiscated from Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose may never be returned to him.
According to the anti-graft commission, the houses – both in Lagos and Abuja – were confiscated via a court order issued on July 20 this year while it was investigating the governor in relation to various offences including diversion of public funds.
8. A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Buba Galadima has claimed that people close to President Muhammadu Buhari have been feeding him with lies because they dread him so much.
According to him, members of the president’s cabinet and the country in general do not understand the President and this is hampering development.
9. A former national chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Anthony Anenih has revealed how he warned the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, against declaring himself president. Anenih, who revealed this in his autobiography, titled “My Life and Nigerian Politics”, recalled that after declaring himself president, Abiola was detained and efforts were made to secure his release, but his friend, late dictator, General Sani Abacha, turned him down.
10. The Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to dock the erstwhile Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC, on an amended 15-count criminal charge bordering on alleged N2.9 billion fraud.
Trial Justice, Gabriel Kolawole, slated December 13 to take plea of the defendants, Mr. Patrick Areh, Mr. Basil Udotai and Babatunji Amure, who are currently on administrative bail.
