1. Madam Ogere Siasia, mother of former Super Eagles striker and Coach, Samson Siasia has been abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. She was kidnapped alongside two other close family members. The other victims whose names were given as Florence Dounana, 65, and her daughter Selekere Dounana, 17, are close family members of the Siasias. The 76-year-old and the two other victims were abducted at about 2am, Monday morning from their family home in Odoni, Sagbama Local Government of Bayelsa State.
2. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) wants to keep Gernot Rohr as the head coach of the Super Eagles, report has claimed despite their loss to Algeria in the Semi-Finals of the competition. Although Rohr led the national team to the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations, there have been calls for the German to be sacked.
3. A two-storeyed building has collapsed in Dilimi community of Jos North LGA of Plateau State, killing three persons. Several persons were injured, while many are still trapped in the debris of the collapsed building. The building, which is located in a busy commercial area of Jos North, collapsed Monday evening, while traders were rounding up the day’s business activities.
4. Former President, Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday wrote another open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari. He lamented the state of the nation while calling for urgent actions to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges. He blamed farmers/herder’s crisis on government poor handling of the matter. The letter was released by Kehinde Akinyemi, his Special Assistant on Media.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have objected to the move by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to play a video before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT). Their lawyers objected when the petitioners’ lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN) invited Atiku’s Media Aide, Segun Showunmi, through whom Uche intended to play the video recordings and tender about 48 documents.
6. The Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan has condemned the continuous killing of Nigerians in South Africa. He warned that further attacks on Nigerians would no longer be condoned. Lawan expressed concern that about 118 Nigerians had so far lost their lives in different attacks over the years, out of which 13 were by the South African Police. He made this known when he hosted the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Bobby Moroe, on Monday in Abuja.
7. The police have arrested some suspects allegedly involved in the killing of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti. The spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, confirmed this on Monday. According to him, the suspects were arrested when a team of security operatives stormed the forests in the area near Ore in Ondo State.
8. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has declared that insecurity has been tamed across the country by the Nigerian army. He stated that the current alarm raised by some groups and individuals was political. He spoke during a visit to the troops stationed at 1 Division Super Camp in Kuyello, Birnin Gwari in Kaduna on Monday.
9. Former Governor of Kogi State, Mr Idris Wada, on Monday picked his nomination and expression of interest forms for Nov. 16 governorship election in the state. Wada, while speaking with newsmen shortly after obtaining his nomination forms at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja, said that the election was an opportunity for Kogi people to compare where he left the state and its present condition, and see if they were better off now. Wada stressed that the state needed an experienced hand to govern it and not a greenhorn running the state presently.
10. Big Brother Naija 2019 housemate, Seyi has been banned from participating in the “Veto Power Game of Chance’ at the ongoing Nigeria’s popular reality TV game show. Seyi had emerged winner on Sunday which gave him the ability to save and replace a nominated housemate even if they are the ones that have been nominated. But he refused on Monday night to save himself from nomination. Consequently, Biggie banned him from participating in Veto Power game of chance.
