Nigerian Newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Tuesday morning

1. The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission, ICPC, has recovered about 165 rounds of ammunition, a pump action rifle and other weapons from the house of Sanusi Muhammed, a former aide to ex-Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State.

The anti-corruption commission also seized about 220 flats, located in 20 estates, allegedly belonging to the ex-governor’s aide.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday officially resumed work at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja after 55 days of vacation.

The President subsequently wrote to inform the national assembly that he has officially assumed duty as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

3. Clerk to the House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Production Services, Mohammed Shuaibu is dead.

Shuaibu slumped and died after he was said to have complained of experiencing some discomfort.

4. The Naira again on Monday put up a strong fight against all foreign currencies in the exchange market.

The currency gained three points to exchange at N460, from N463 posted on Friday, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N550 and 476, respectively.

5. Northern youths under the umbrella of Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack non-performing ministers in his cabinet.

The group urged the President to assess the performance of his Ministers while he was away on vacation and “take necessary action to avoid their non-performance for the good interest of Nigeria.”

6. Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki and the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu from prison custody, unconditionally.

Fayose on Monday warned Buhari to reciprocate the mercy of God upon his life by also showering mercy on his fellow citizens.

7. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, has warned the Prof. Jerry Gana-led Strategy Review and Inter-Party Affairs Committee to stop speaking for the opposition party.

The National Chairman noted that the report of the Gana-led committee would not be useful in the ongoing effort at re-positioning the party.

8. Embattled co-Founder of Chocolate City, Audu Maikori has being arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrate Court 1, on a two count charge of attempt to incite the general public through false information, contrary to Section 24 of Cyber Crime Act Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2015.

Audu Maikori and his driver, Simon Joseph, were later granted bail in the sum of N100,00 each on self-recognition.

9. At least, fifteen persons have been confirmed dead after a truck conveying cows and passengers lost control on a bridge and plunged into a river.

The accident, which occurred at about 10p.m. on the Ngurore Bridge on Yola-Numan Road Sunday night left many injured while others are still missing.

10. In sports, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has vowed to sack Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles head coach if he fails to qualify the country for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are currently top of Group B of Africa qualifying zone, with six points from their first two matches.
