1. Several persons have been reportedly killed and many others injured after gunmen attacked Zaki Biam, in Ukum local government area of Benue State on Monday.

The heavily armed gunmen, numbering ten stormed the town from TorTonda- Zaki Biam road at about 5:00 p.m. on Monday and slaughtered some people in the area.

2. The Nigeria Police Force, yesterday arraigned the National Commandant of the Peace Corps, Dickson Akoh before an Abuja Federal High Court.

Akoh was brought to the federal high court, Abuja alongside other senior officers of the corps amid heavy security as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the organization.

3. Reports say the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (Abuja zone), has rejected what it tagged as “ugly and worrisome unilateral drastic cut” by the Federal Government in the personnel cost allocations to federal universities throughout the country.

The union has threatened to down tools should the Federal Government continue to cut salaries of workers.

4. The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria has named Sigma Golf Nigeria Limited and Riverbank Investment Resources Limited (the Sigma Golf-Riverbank Consortium) as the new investors in relation to the acquisition of the entire issued and fully paid up ordinary shares of embattled Keystone Bank Limited.

AMCON said the development follows the receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals from the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

5. Report emerged on Monday ‎that the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye never had his first degree in Geography from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna.

An online medium, which said Melaye did not graduate from ABU, alleged that the lawmaker bribed his Head of Department, “who assisted him to forge his transcript.”

6. The Nigerian currency, Naira on Monday put up a strong fight against the dollar at the parallel market.

The currency exchanged at N440 (buying rate) and N445 (Selling rate) to a dollar, from N445/N450 it traded on Friday, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N530 and N465.

7. Business mogul and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has decried the treatment meted on him by his former party, the People’s Democratic Party, despite being a major ‘stakeholder.’

Kalu claimed he gave the party its first N500m and supported the election of former President Olusegun Obasanjo with N100m, adding that if the PDP were a company, he owned 90 per cent of its share.

8. The Indigenous People of Biafra has strongly frowned at the judgment of Justice Binta Nyako, who has insisted to go on with secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu.

The group warned Nigerians to stop the islamisation of the country.

9. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, has affirmed that nobody can destroy the party because it’s a creation of God.

The former Borno State Governor told newsmen in Abuja that he was working towards returning the party to power in the next election.

10. Four housemates in the Big Brother Naija show have been nominated for eviction.

The affected persons are: Bassey, Bailey, Debbie Rise and Tboss. One of them will be evicted on Sunday.
