1. Frontline human rights lawyer and activist, Femi Falana has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently seek for medical attention.
Falana urged the President to take the advice of his personal physician and take some time to attend his health.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the Nigeria workers of speedy passage of the new National Minimum Wage.
Buhari said that he was aware that the economic recession had huge implication for the conduct of industrial relations and noted that this arose from the fact that the economic recession by its nature was characterised by a substantial risk of the vicious circles of low-productivity.
3. Rt. Rev. Seun Adeoye has called on Nigerians to pray for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Adeoye, if anything should happen to Buhari, Nigeria will fall into wrong hands that were ready to do anything to turn it into their private estates.
4. Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has insisted that Nigerians make the best jollof rice anywhere in the world.
Osinbajo, who was apparently reacting to a claim by Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture who had rated Senegal above Nigeria in jollof rice making, asserted that Nigeria’s jollof rice is the best.
5. A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has stated that the suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Ayo Oke, did not fund former President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign in 2015.
Fani-Kayode said the reports that the $43m (N13bn) found by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in a house in Ikoyi, Lagos, was the remainder of Jonathan’s campaign funds were mere attempts by certain persons to rubbish the suspended NIA’s boss.
6. Former interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, has called on Nigerians to pray for the restoration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.
Akande said that Nigerians needed to pray for the recovery of the President, whom he said had been fighting corruption seriously since he assumed office.
7. The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Monday, called for the immediate probe of States that allegedly diverted the bail funds released by the federal government.
The Christian union, which described economic situation as unfriendly and harsh, said the situation of Nigerian workers, demanded increment in their salaries.
8. The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, Speaker, House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara, Minister of Employment, Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige and other government functionaries, were publicly disgraced, on Monday, at the Eagle Square venue of this year’s May Day Celebration.
The event was disrupted for close to one hour by workers who barred government officials from delivering the speech from the federal government.
9. The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has advocated N145,000 as minimum wage for Nigerian civil servants.
He described the current N18,000 minimum wage as ‘a big insult’ to Nigerian workers, adding that the amount was not even enough to feed a politician’s dog in a month.
10. Immediate past governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, yesterday, cried foul over his detention by the Police, claiming he was being persecuted because of his presidential ambition in 2019. He accused the current government of trying to punish him because of his ambition.
