1. Nigerian national team, the Super Eagle, Monday played a 1-1 draw with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, ending the dream of the African champions’ to qualify for the World Cup in Russia. Goals from Moses Simon, and a converted penalty by Vincent Aboubakar saw both sides sharing the points in Yaounde.
2. The founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, Ralph Uwazuruike, has revealed that the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has accepted an offer of a mansions from the Federal Government. He said the mansions were bought for him in London, alleging that Kanu was secretly recruited by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to destroy the Biafran movement from within.
3. The Peoples Democratic Party has advised that allegations of bribery leveled against the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, should be taken seriously the Federal Government. The party while referring to the many allegations levelled against the IGP by the Senator representing Bauchi Central, Isah Misau, said the allegations are too weighty to be ignored.
4. No fewer than 3 suspects have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over Sunday’s assassination of winner of the 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search, GUS, reality TV, Season 3, Hector Oluwaseun Jobarteh. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, said three persons were being interrogated over the killing.
5. Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said President Muhammadu Buhari and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, should be arrested and detained for disobeying court orders. Kanu advised those calling for his arrest to instead, direct their anger towards Buhari.
6. President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to celebrate the Super Eagles, following their 1-1 draw with Cameroon, in a 2018 World Cup qualifying game on Monday in Yaounde. Buhari posted a picture of himself watching the game on TV and tweeted: “Let’s celebrate our Super Eagles, holding Cameroon to a draw in Yaoundé. The march to #Russia2018 continues, and they have all our support!”
7. Troops of Mobile Strike Teams (MSTs) 21, on operation LAFIYA DOLE, deployed within the 21 Brigade Nigerian Army Area of Operations, at the early hours of Monday, laid a successful ambush on suspected Boko Haram terrorists crossing point along Firgi- Banki Junction road, Borno State. The Troops neutralized a large number of the Boko Haram terrorists, while other terrorists sustained gunshot wounds.
8. A Boko Haram Commander, Shuaibu Moni has mocked the Nigerian Army and government over their failure to capture Abubakar Shekau within 40 days. Moni, who was one of the Commanders swapped for the release of the 82 Chbok girls in May said despite that the ultimatum given to capture their leader had passed, the officers are celebrating Sallah in Sambisa forest. Moni described President Muhammadu Buhari as “a small ant” over his failure to capture Shekau dead or live.
9. Police in Rivers state have arrested a sixteen-year-old girl who is allegedly involved in kidnapping and ritual killing. Report says the security personnel at a checkpoint around the C4i Unit in Igbo-Etche arrested a teenage girl who is allegedly involved in child trafficking, kidnappings and ritual killings.
10. A member of a notorious robbery gang, identified simply as Frank, has escaped from police custody. Frank who was arrested during a robbery operation at St. Patrick Quasi Catholic Parish, Obio Ndot, in the Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, escaped from the police cell on Friday through the roof at the Ikot Uboh Police Post, under the Oruk Anam Police Division.
