1. President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, inaugurated the National Minimum Wage Committee.
The 30-member committee, which is chaired by Ms. Ama Pepple, is saddled with the responsibility of negotiating a new National Minimum Wage for Nigerian workers.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered State Governors to pay workers before Christmas.
The President, who gave the order while meeting with the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja charged them to ensure that they pay all the salaries owed workers before Christmas.
4. A female Lawyer, Yewande Oyediran, accused of stabbing her husband, Lowo in Ibadan, Oyo State, was on Monday sentenced to seven years in prison by Justice Muntar Abimbola for manslaughter.
Oyediran, who was a staff of the Department of Public Prosecution in the Oyo State of Ministry of Justice, was accused of killing her husband with a knife after a disagreement on February 2, 2016, at their residence in Akobo area of Ibadan.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma, and the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to pay the outstanding Paris and London Clubs refunds before the end of 2017.
Buhari gave the directive in a meeting with state governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
6. Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), has stated that Musiliu Obanikoro’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not end his case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Sagay said there will be no soft landing for Obanikoro from answering the corruption cases hanging on his neck despite pitching his tent with the ruling party.
7. Comptroller-General of Prisons, Jaáfaru Ahmed has approved the recommendation of the Zonal Disciplinary Committee for the dismissal of 8 junior officers for various offences.
They were found guilty of trafficking (smuggling) prohibited items such as mobile phones, India hemp and other intoxicating substances into the prison yard.
8. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has accused the Federal Government of being unserious with the clean-up of Ogoniland.
The Governor noted that the devastation of Ogoniland has impoverished the people by destroying their farmlands and fishing waters.
9. Four people were on Monday confirmed dead after a gas cylinder exploded at a fuel station in Orji, Owerri North local government area of Imo State.
According to police, several other customers who were buying fuel and other petroleum products were also seriously wounded in the explosion.
10. President Muhammadu Buhari is set to depart Nigeria for Ivory Coast today to attend the 5th European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Summit in Abidjan.
According to a statement by Femi Adesina, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, President Buhari will “participate in working sessions on the Summit theme: “Investing in the Youth for a Sustainable Development,” and on the margins of the Summit, meet with a number of African Heads of State and their European Union counterparts.
