1. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday made a new appointment in the judicial system.
The President appointed Justice Musa Abaji as a new Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
2. Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly was on Wednesday under siege.
Report had it that combined force of Police, Army and Civil Defense took over the entire Assembly complex barring even the House of Assembly staff from gaining entrance.
3. Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has declared that he was confident that the ruling APC would retain power in the state as he would hand over to a competent, God-fearing man in the person of Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the gubernatorial candidate of the party.
Ajimobi made this declaration while speaking at the 2018 Maulid Nabiyy (celebration of the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad, SAW), held at the Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
4. The presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party, Yabagi Sani has promised to pay workers N100, 000 minimum wage if elected as Nigeria’s President in 2019.
The ADP candidate spoke in Abuja at the kick off his campaign and unveiling his running mate, Prince Martin Kunle Olateru-Olagbegi.
5. The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, have lost again in court.
An Imo State High Court yesterday upheld the prayers of the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, and quashed the gubernatorial primary held on October 6, 2018, by the Okorocha faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
6. No fewer than 156 repentant and surrendered members of the Boko Haram on Wednesday swore allegiance to the Nigerian government after undergoing a De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DDR) programme, coded Operation Safe Corridor.
The repentant insurgents took the oath of allegiance before Justice Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi of the Federal High Court, Gombe at the DDR rehabilitation camp in Gombe.
7. Troops involved in ongoing military operations in the northwest, Nigeria code name “Sharan Daji’ have killed 20 bandits while 21 suspects were arrested.
The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim at a press conference said, during the period in focus, troops also recovered 1,444 cows, 478 sheep, 11 camels, 14 donkeys, 56 rams and 293 goats.
8. The Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday arrested 22 suspects involved in armed robbery and kidnapping terrorising the state.
The State Commissioner of Police (CP), Abdur-Rahman Ahmad, said that seven of the suspects were nabbed in connection to alleged criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
9. The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has released its West African Senior Secondary Certification Examination, WASSCE results for private candidates in the 2018 November/December Examination.
The exam body recorded 60 per cent failure.
10. Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Wednesday pummeled the Shepolopolo of Zambia 4-0 at Cape Coast in Ghana at the 11th African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON).
Desire Oparanozie scored the opening goal, while Francesca Ordega added the second goal minutes into the second half.
