1. The Speaker of the Yobe state House of Assembly, Adamu Dama Dog, has resigned.

Adamu Dog resigned voluntarily on Wednesday, but some lawmakers speaking after plenary, claimed his resignation was prompted by impeachment moves building up against him.

2. The Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Usman Jibril, has resigned.

He tendered his resignation on Wednesday at the ongoing Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, days after his emergence as Emir of Nasarawa.

3. The Presidency has dismissed the recent utterances by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, as a sign of confusion not worthy of attention.

Presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said that whoever Obasanjo chooses to support at the 2019 elections is irrelevant, noting that the former president had publicly changed his mind on the matter so many times over the past few months alone.

4. Dr Dozie Ikedife, a former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, is dead.

Dozie Ikedife, Jr, son of the former Ohanaeze leader, confirmed the death to reporters saying that he died at about 7 pm on Tuesday in his Nnewi residence, Anambra State.

5. The Senate Wednesday passed the South East Development Commission (Establishment) Bill 2018.

The proposed commission aims at enhancing the infrastructural development of the South East zone, which is grappling with huge ecological challenges.

6. The All Progressive Congress (APC) has asked the Supreme Court to sack Governor Waziri Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on the ground of irregularities in the primary election that produced him as the party’s candidate in 2014.

The party in a change of gear directed its new counsel Abduganiyu Arobo to concede to the appeal filed by Senator Umaru Dahiru to get judgment entered in favour of the appellant.

7. Doyin Okupe, a former aide to immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan has been released from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody.

Okupe, who was arrested on Monday, made this known in a tweet on his official Twitter Page on Wednesday.

8. The Supreme Court has fixed March 8, 2019 to deliver judgment in an appeal filed by former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, challenging the powers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for forfeiture of her properties when she has not been convicted for any offence.

The apex court fixed the date yesterday in Abuja after taking argument from Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe, SAN, counsel to the ex First Lady and Rotimi Oyedepo who stood for EFCC.

9. The Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division has confirmed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State will not field any candidate during the 2019 General elections.

The court dismissed the appeal filed by the factional Rivers State APC Governorship Candidate, Tonye Cole.

10. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Abuja chapter on Wednesday prevented Noble Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon Rtd and former Education Minister, Dr Oby Ezekwesili from speaking at an anti-corruption event.

The union led by its chairman, Dr Kasim Umaru, disrupted the event held at the University of Abuja.
