1. The Boko Haram sect appears to have changed its strategy with its recent use of female suicide bomber. Report says a female suicide bomber on Wednesday sneaked into Kano Polytechnic before blowing up herself and 13 others. Several people were confirmed injured in the attack.
2. The Kibaku Area Development Association (Chibok community), has explained that the Presidency shared only N22.4m to the Chibok parents and the escaped girls in a meeting they had with President Goodluck Jonathan on July 22, and not N100m as reported in the media. The leaders however denied that they were given the money to share to the parents and the girls, saying that they were never in charge of the sharing.
3. A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is currently between life and death after his scrotum was cut off by his Landlady’s children. Report says the incident occurred in Lagos state, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun. The victim was attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members by the Landlady’s children identified as Solomon and Damilola.
4. Graduates who were at the Lagos State University, Ojo yesterday were denied collecting their call-up letters for NYSC as the striking lecturers of the institution shut down all offices in the University except the VC’s office.
5. A former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, on Wednesday publicly declared that he has joined the All Progressive Congress. Bolaji told journalists in Ilorin, claiming that only APC holds the key to a credible political future for Nigeria.
6. Team Nigeria’s medals continue to increase in the ongoing Common Wealth Games in Glasgow as it added two more golds to its kitty on Wednesday with Odunayo Adekuoroye winning gold in the women’s 53kg wrestling final and Aminat Adeniyi achieving same feat in the 58kg class.
7. Former Adamawa state Governor, Murtala Nyako has described as rediculous the allegation that he stole N86bn from the state coffers. Nyako, while speaking through his Spokesman, Ahmad Sajoh said the allegation further shows the desperation of the incumbent Governor and his allies.
8. The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Andrew Pocock has cleared that the British Government’s offer of assistance to Nigeria in the rescue of the abducted Chibok girls does not extend to deployment of troops to Nigeria. He said the assistance was to bring in some expertise into the search for the missing girls.
9. Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, declared the seat of the member representing Etsako West Constituency I, Mr. Abdulrazak Momoh, vacant for defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from the All Progressives Congress, APC. The Speaker, Mr. Uyi Igbe, made the announcement during plenary of the APC lawmakers at the Old Assembly complex in Government House, Benin, saying the defection of the lawmaker did not follow the expected and legal procedure.
10. Police in Delta state have arrested a woman, Ese Oghenevwe (25), of Urhuoka quarters, Abraka who allegedly killed her two sons namely, Prayer Clement (9 months) and Wisdom Clement ( 2 years) by giving them a liquid substance to drink. Report says the substance was obtained from a Pastor for healing purposes.
