1. President Idriss Deby of Chad Wednesday sounded a note of warning to the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, advising him to surrender or be killed by the military as they already know his hideout.
2. The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) has faulted President Goodluck Jonathan’s alleged political gimmicks to use religion in order to gain support and remain in office beyond 2015. This was contained in a statement signed its Director of Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.
3. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to what it termed false alarms and lies dished out on Wednesday at a press conference addressed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying that the statement issued at the end of the conference portrayed APC as a party of lies. This was contained in a statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Wednesday.
4. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has termed as mere comedy, the worries by the All Progressives Congress (APC) over plans to remove the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, saying nothing will happen if Jonathan chooses to sack Jega.
5. Report says at least fifteen political parties and five presidential aspirants may protest against the use of card in the March and April elections by boycotting the elections. They are of the view that the card reader is entirely a new devise that has never been tested at any time, hence the motive by INEC is questionable.
6. Going by the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday where INEC was ordered to register the Young Democratic Party (YDP) as a new political party, there may be a need for new ballot papers to be printed just few weeks to the elections. Though INEC is yet to respond to the judgment, many are of the views that the judgment may affect the new elections dates.
7. A High Court sitting in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital and presided over by Justice John Igboji had on Wednesday granted an interlocutory injunction stopping further impeachment processes against the state governor, Chief Martin Elechi by the State Assembly.
8. The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) has referred to the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan as a crude woman, having attacked Gen. Buhari in her recent comments. The party called on president Jonathan to call his wife to order.
9. The Federal Government has expressed hope that the ongoing fuel scarcity would end this weekend. The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, disclosed this after a meeting with members of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria in Abuja.
10. Following his much talked about Chatham Speech in the United Kingdom, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, will return to the country on Friday (tomorrow). Report says massive celebration would be held on his return to the country.
