1. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to withdraw the certificate of return it issued to Christian Abah ( Mad Lion) for the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives over certificate forgery. The Court however declared Hassan Saleh as the winner of the primary. It requested the IG of police to commence immediate prosecution of Abah.
2. National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, yesterday bowed to pressure by resigning from his position as the party’s Chairman. Consequently, his Deputy, Uche Secondus becomes the new Chairman of the crisis-ridden party.
3. Relatively, the status of the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih would be made known today as report says he is also under pressure to give up the position.
4. The Nigerian Medical Association in Ekiti State Wednesday announced the suspension of emergency services across the state’s hospitals following the growing incidents of kidnapping in the state which has greatly affected members of the association.
5. Report says two cousins of President Goodluck Jonathan, namely; Patience Egbeni and Kate Eni, have been kidnapped by gunmen from their provisions stores along the bank of a river in Akimpelai, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State.
6. The Nigerian Labour Congress and the National Union of Post and Telecommunication Employees on Wednesday frustrated the operations of the Nigerian Postal Services in Abuja as aggrieved members of NUPTE and officials of the NLC, led by Mr. Ayuba Wabba ( President) stormed the headquarters of NIPOST to protest an alleged decision of the management of NIPOST to force about 4,000 Level 07 members of staff, to join the Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations, contrary to their wish.
7. Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has disclosed that his new wife, Lara Fortes, was a virgin when he met her, advising Edo youth to imbibe such culture instead of being promiscuous. The comrade governor made the revelation during their wedding thanksgiving service.
8. No fewer than 579 officers of the Nigerian Army are currently facing court martial before the General Court Martial sitting in Lagos and Abuja over various offences. The Nigerian Army disclosed this on Wednesday, also saying that the fate of the 66 Soldiers currently sentenced to death has not been decided yet.
9. The other faction of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) under the leadership of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state has denied making peace with the Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s led faction, saying such reconciliation would no longer be effective and useful as majority of the governors will be out of office in the next one week. The faction alleged that the announcement of a reconciliation was an attempt by Ameachi’s group to control the governors-elect who will form a new forum in a matter of days.
10. The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Wednesday denied being a candidate of the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the speakership of the 8th Assembly. He denied the report while speaking in Abuja during his meeting with PDP members-elect as part of his campaign for the position.
