Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. In a follow up to the sack of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, as well as his replacement, the Federal government has announced the sacking of all the eight executive directors of the corporation. The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, confirmed this on Wednesday night in Abuja.

2. The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that those who sponsored the election of President Muhammadu Buhari must equally be probed as part of the president’s anti-corruption war. He alleged that some of them have only held public offices and must be able to let Nigerians know their sources of income.

3. Payment of cash into domiciliary accounts in Nigeria has been banned by the CBN. This is contained in a circular released on Wednesday and signed by the Director of Trade and Exchange, CBN, Olakanmi Gbadamosi. Justifying its decision, the CBN said it became necessary following recent statements by individual banks suspending the payment of foreign currencies into domiciliary accounts.

4. The Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, Wednesday dismissed the fourth petitions of the five filed to challenge the election of Gov. Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party as the governor of Rivers state. The only petition still standing is the one filed by the APC and Dakuku Peterside. The tribunal dismissed the fourth petition marked EPT/RV/GOV/03/2015 which was filed by Minaibim Harry of the Social Democratic Party. It ruled that the petition was incompetent.

5. The senate on Wednesday summoned the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele to appear before it in order to enlighten the senate on the state of the country’s economy. This follows public outcry over the nation’s failing economy and the continuous depreciation of the naira.

6. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday reiterated the importance of the NYSC scheme, saying that his government will do all it can to ensure the scheme is properly funded. He emphasised on the role of national integration played by the scheme, saying the objective of its establishment in 1973 was still very relevant today.

7. President Mohammadu Buhari, Wednesday directed that the Ogoni land dented with oil spillage be cleaned up. The presidential directive followed the report of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) on the environmental restoration of Ogoniland.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday expressed worries over the enormous debt profile of Nigeria’s aviation sector, saying his administration will act quickly in order to address the situation. The President also tasked the Ministry of Aviation to establish a national carrier for the country.

9. Report says two persons were beheaded while four others sustained serious injuries during an attack on Eziagulu Otu in Anambra East Local Government Area, yesterday by some gunmen suspected to be from Ibaji in Kogi State. Report says the gunmen attacked the people on their farms.

10. Nigerian Army new Director of Defence Information, Colonel Rabe Abubakar, has restated the commitment of the military to ending insurgency in the North-East. He reiterated the military’s dogged disposition in the ongoing war while receiving a cross section of Defence correspondents who paid him a congratulatory visit.
