Nigerian Newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Thursday morning

Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. Report says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has alleged in its 10 counts of money laundry against former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Bade that he removed a total of N3.9bn from the account of the nation’s Air Force between January and December 2013.

2. Report has claimed that the 2016 budget would be passed on March 17. This follows the assurance by the Joint Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives on Appropriation that March 17 is the ideal date for the passage of the proposed budget into law. This assurance was given on Wednesday.

3. The registration fee of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) otherwise known as JAMB has been slashed from the current N5, 650 to N2, 500. This resolution was reached by the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly on Wednesday.

4. Report has further claimed that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Arase has reportedly queried the AIG, Zone 1, Kano, Shuibu Gambo and Commissioners of Police in charge of Bayelsa and Kano states over their roles in Ese oruru’s alleged abduction.

5. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved the appointment of Mr Inusa Mohammed as the Principal Secretary to the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff. Also appointed was Chief Uche Nnaji as the Political Adviser to the National Chairman.

6. On a lighter note, senator Dino Melaye while emphasising on the need to patronize locally made goods during plenary on Wednesday, condemned leaders who go outside the country to marry. He particularly mentioned Adams Oshiomhole who married outside the shore of the country.

7. Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, has reacted to reports that it is planning to go violent nationwide. A statement by Ibrahim Musa, President, Media Forum of the Islamic Movement, said the stories alleging that Shiites under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub Zakzaky were planning a revenge mission for the killings done to them by the army in Zaria was false.

8. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has condemned the state governor, Ayodele Fayose over his streetlight fuel supply cost. The party alleged that Fayose was deliberately inflating the figure to short-change the state.

9. Report says the Nigerian Army has in a fresh letter commuted the dismissal of former Commander of the Joint Task Force, Enitan Rensom-Kuti by a Special Court Martial to demotion. The Army has equally ordered the immediate release of Kuti.

10. The Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday alleged that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Joseph Nwobike transferred N750,000 as bribe to Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal High Court.
