1. Report says two white men believed to be contractors and five other officials of the Adamawa State Ministry of Land and Survey have been killed in a village in Toungo Local Government Area of the State. it was reported that the deceased were killed while on official assignment. They were demarcating the boundaries of some villages between Cameroon and Niger when the incident happened.
2. A son of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mohammed Bala, Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, has been remanded in Kuje Prison by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, on Wednesday ordered that the Minister’s son, who is currently standing trial for alleged fraud be remanded in Kuje prison till Friday.
3. Report says a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has returned yet another N30m to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, promising to refund the balance of N417m. With the latest refund, has has now returned a total of N167m to the Federal Government.
4. Former Governor of Ekiti State and Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, is claiming N3billion as damages in a libel suit instituted against a member of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Dr Samuel Omotoso; and Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mr Lere Olayinka, over fraud allegation raised against the former governor in the media. The suit follows the failure of the duo to retract the said report.
5. Troops of 25 Task Force Brigade, 7 Division Nigerian Army during clearance operation at Dulsa and Buk, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, Wednesday encountered fleeing Boko Haram terrorists, killing 35 of them and losing 3 soldiers. This was contained in a statement by the Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman.
6. The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has said the nation’s power generation stepped up to 3,528.90 megawatts on February 1, from 2,662 megawatts that it was on January 22. The company disclosed this figure on the website of the Nigerian Electricity System Operator (SO), a in its daily forecast on power generation in Lagos, yesterday.

8. 41 Nigerians were yesterday deported from the United Kingdom over various immigration offences. They arrived at the cargo terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos in a chartered Air bus 330 aircraft around 7:55 am. They were 33 males and eight females.
9. Nigeria music icon, 2face Idibia has rescheduled the proposed February 5 protest against Nigeria’s Federal Government. He has further warned politicians against thwarting the aim of the rally. The new date is now February 6 2017.
10. The Federal government has moved to beat down food prices across the nation. Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has consequently inaugurated a special task force to urgently consider measures that would ensure a steady flow of produce to the market and reverse recent price increases. The Task Force will explore options to promote availability and affordability of food items to Nigerians.
