1. The Senate on Wednesday, for the second time rejected the request from President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm Ibrahim Magu as substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The senate said Magu failed an integrity test, hence their decision.

2. Several persons were yesterday killed after suspected suicide bombers attacker Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The attack, which occurred at the Muna garage in Maiduguri, left many persons dead and several others injured.

3. The Senate has finally agreed to issue a warrant of arrest to compel the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), retired Col. Hammed Ali, to appear before it today.

The senate unanimously passed the motion at their plenary on Wednesday.

4. The Kaduna State House of Assembly has described as malicious and ridiculous the speculations in the social media of plans to impeach the state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The House committee on Information, Nuhu Goro Shadalafiya said such report should be discarded as nothing of such would happen.

5. Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has claimed that ex-Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar and current Governor of his State, Abdullahi Ganduje, ‎were planning to float a new political party.

According to Kwankawso, both men, who are Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are “hobnobbing” with the Ahmed Makarfi’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

6. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday called on African leaders to ensure that there is no hiding place for treasury looters in their respective county.

Obasanjo observed that for African continent to overcome its numerous socio-economic and political challenges, leaders needed to stand firm in the fight against corruption.

7. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has accused the Nigerian Government of fueling the adultery allegation against Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Power Ministry by one Miss Stephanie Otobo.

Governor Fayose wondered why all the adultery allegations and blackmail against Apostle Suleiman surfaced only after he spoke out against the reckless and indiscriminate killing of Christians in Southern Kaduna and his subsequent encounter with the Department of State Services (DSS).

8. The Federal Government has lifted the ban on commercial helicopters shuttling between Abuja and Kaduna.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Haidi Sirika, announced that the ban had been lifted.

9. The Federal Government of Nigerian has slammed a 90-count criminal charge against the National Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Mr. Dickson Akor and the Incorporated Trustees of the Corps. The charges border on alleged conversion of money directly derived from extortion to the tune of about N1.4 billion.

The defendants are further charged for wearing uniforms and other identification marks, contrary to section 24 (1) of the Private Guard Companies Act Cap P30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and punishable under section 32 (1) of the Act.

10. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has stated that the upper legislative chamber has ridiculed the office of President Muhammadu Buhari by rejecting the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The lawyer said some senators under investigation by the commission ought not to have participated in the screening.
