1. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday extended the tenure of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee.
Chairman, convention planning committee, Ifeanyi Okowa said the Makarfi-led committee would continue to lead the party pending the next national elective convention.
2. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has described the All Progressives Congress as Boko Haram.
Fayose said he would be at the presidential villa to receive Nigerians in 2019.
3. A Chieftain of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo has warned that if anything happens to acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria will stop existing.
Adebanjo warned that all will not be well with Nigeria if Osinbajo is frustrated, should the need for him to assume the presidency arise.
4. Immediate past Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a political organization cherished by God himself.
He called on Nigerians to continue to support and pray for the success of the PDP ahead of the 2019 general elections.
5. Katsina State Progressive Youth Alliance has insisted Igbos must leave the North by October 1, despite several assurances given by the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmimin Usman.
Secretary General of the group, Abdullahi Marusa, stated that despite the intervention of the emir of Kastina, there was no going back on the October deadline.
6. Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described Nnamdi Kanu as a kid who is not qualified to speak on behalf of Igbos.
Igbokwe said he was not in support of any movement for an independent state of Biafra because the unity of Nigeria was sacrosanct.
7. Former President Olusegun Obansanjo on Saturday said he wants to go to heaven and wished to sing among the hosts of heaven.
Obasanjo, who made this remark during the 2017 Camp Meeting Concert by Apostolic Faith Church Choir and Orchestral, urged them to be prepared for Christ’s second coming.
8. The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas has justified the purchase of 50 Peugeot 508 cars (which cost N17m per vehicle). He said the vehicles were meant for the utility services of members.
9. President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team on Saturday met with him in London, UK, where he has been for the last three months on health reasons.
The delegation to the Abuja House was led by the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed and also had Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant Media & Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu, Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina and the President’s Personal Assistant Digital/Online Media Lauretta Onochie.
10. Chelsea began the defence of their Premier League on a faulty note with a 3-2 lost to Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw by Watford in the first game of the day, while new entrants Huddersfield pummeled Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park. The game between Swansea and Southampton was goalless, while Wayne Rooney grabbed the winner as Everton saw off Stoke City 1-0.
