1. The Presidency has attacked former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for resigning from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, in a Facebook post, branded Atiku a ‘Control-freak’, adding that he attempted severally to take control of the APC party structure but failed woefully. Onochie noted that Atiku was a self-absorbed man, who has a history of feeling disenchanted whenever attention shifts from him to other people.
2. It has been reported that Yakubu Galadima, the lawyer for the whistle-blower, who informed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of the $43m, N23.2m and £27,800 (N13bn) recovered from an Ikoyi apartment, has said that his client will not accept anything below five per cent commission.
3. The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed three properties belonging to former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam. The properties with inscription ‘EFCC keep off’ include the Metropolitan hotel along FMC road, a residential building still under construction by the river side and his family home in HUDCO quarters all in Makurdi.
4. A popular radio presenter, Abulganiyu Lawal has been shot dead while hunting by unknown persons at Araromi-Oke in Ekiti East Local Government of Ekiti State. The 42-year-old OAP, who was a member of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) in Ekiti State has since been buried according to Islamic rites in his parents’ residence at Igbemo-Ekiti.
5. Federal lawmakers from Benue State, have accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government of placing premium on Fulani cattle more than the lives of the citizens of Benue. They accused the President of having no political will to end the recurring attacks on locals in the state by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
6. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has given commercial motorcyclists popularly known as okada riders, three days to register with any of the two relevant transport associations in the state or risk arrest. According to the police boss, the two recognised associations are National Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association (NNAMORAL) and Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State (MOALS).
7. Former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, on Saturday officially decamped from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. He moved alongside other PDP bigwigs in the state, including a former aide of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, Modupe Sasore. Others are a national officer of the PDP, Jide Damazio, and another PDP chieftain, Chief Kola Balogun.
8.Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of killing and stealing under the pretext of democracy. FFK described Buhari ‘s government as the most vicious, barbaric, corrupt and rapacious Nigeria has ever known.
9. Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State, has stated he had no plans to follow former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar out of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. The Adamawa governor also said his relationship with the former Vice President would remain cordial and mutually beneficial despite his resignation from the APC. Sajoh called on members of the APC not to allow the exit of Atiku from the party to disorganise them.
10. Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, has said it’snot aware of the 2019 presidential ambition of a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu. Afenifere said this while dismissing claims that Tinubu’s visit to its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure, the Ondo State capital, was political. It said the meeting with Fasoranti was a private one which had nothing to do with politics.
