1. Despite an Interlocutory Injunction by Justice Chiwendu Nworgu of a High Court in Port Harcourt, the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State went ahead to conducted its delegate local government Congress across the twenty-three Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday. Officials of the Independent National Electoral and some national officers of the APC were seen at the venues of the congress.
2. The Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi, Saturday emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Ekiti. Fayemi secured the most votes in the rescheduled exercise. The former Governor secured 941 votes, beating Segun Oni (481), Kayode Ojo (281), Olufemi Richard Bamisile (179), Oluyede Oluwole (121), and Aluko Daniel Olugbenga (86).
3. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared that people attacking him on the internet, would soon be sent out of the Nigeria. The cleric said those critics were also attacking Christians by extension, but that they would be scattered.
4. Report says, at least, four persons were feared killed while six others sustained gunshot wounds on Saturday as operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service and smugglers engaged in a shootout at Ilara, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State. The report claimed the incident happened at the border town with the Republic of Benin around 8.30am.
5. A teenager simply identified as Kofo was reportedly killed Saturday morning at Idi Oro area of Queens Cinema in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital. The incident occurred barely two hours after the commencement of the state local government election. She was allegedly killed by stray bullet when trouble started among NSCDC officials and some hoodlums.
6. The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has lifted the shutdown slammed on Peace Standard Pharmaceutical Limited and Bioraj Pharmaceutical Limited in Ilorin, Kwara State, and Emzor Pharmaceuticals Ind. Ltd, Lagos, over codeine syrup distribution. Director General of the Agency, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, in a statement at the weekend, disclosed that the companies can resume normal operations.
7. Alhaji Sule Lamido, a presidential aspirant has said that Nigerians will vote out President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019 due to the resurgence of insurgency, hunger and poverty in the country. Lamido made the statement at a grand reception held in honour of PDP deputy national chairman, Senator Babayo Gamawa, on Saturday in Bauchi State.
8. The Senator representing Delta Central District in the National Assembly, Omo-Agege, has vowed to resume plenary next week despite the red chambers’ appeal to a High Court’s nullification of his suspension. Omo-Agege, who said his planned resumption was not based on court nullifying the suspension, but because he never believed that a legislature could suspend a member.
9. A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos identified as Nurudeen Olanose has been shot dead. He was killled during the party’s local government congress in Agege. The member was allegedly shot at Central School, Dopemu, during a fracas that ensued after voting ended on Saturday.
10. Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has said that there was need for presidential and governorship candidates to make their medical records public. Bruce said that although there is no existing law that made the publication compulsory, such candidates had the moral duty to make their health condition known to the electorate.
