1. A gas explosion on Saturday evening, razed down 15 shops on Ibrahim Taiwo Road by Abeokuta street in Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the inferno, which broke out at about 5:40 pm, was put out by men of the fire service.

2. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Aregbesola of Osun State on Friday paid a visit to Lagos State Government over the Otedola Bridge Tanker Explosion.

Osinbajo delivered President’s Buhari’s condolence message to the people and government of the state over the tragic tanker explosion resulting in the loss of lives.

3. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Robert Clarke (SAN) has said that Nigeria may cease to exist within the next six months unless there is a change in the system of governance.

According to him, there is no light at the end of the tunnel for the nation, looking at the looming implosion of several political parties ahead of the 2019 general elections.

4. The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari over the sharing of the $350m loot recovered from former military ruler, late Gen. Sani Abacha.

Sani in a tweet on Saturday said the sharing of the loot to 180m Nigerians is impossible, adding that the money will end up with beneficiaries nominated by governors, ministers, lawmakers and the president’s men.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has refuted reports that commercial quantities of crude oil have been discovered in the Bida Basins, Niger state.

Group Managing Director, Maikanti Kacalla Baru, described the report as false, alarming and should be discarded.

6. President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday arrived Mauritania for the 31st session of the African Union, AU.

Buhari was welcomed by the President of Mauritania, Mohammed Ould Abdel Aziz at the airport.

7. Two policemen are reported to have been killed in an ambush along Iwukem Road, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The police spokesperson in the state, Odiko MacDon, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday, said the policemen were attacked while driving to their base in Azumini, Abia State.

8. No fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed dead in an accident along Kaduna-Kano expressway on Saturday

The accident occurred around Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, at about 5:30 a.m, according to a statement issued by the Head of Public Enlightenment, Zaria Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr Idris Yahaya.

9. Suspected herdsmen on Saturday killed one person and rustled nine cows in Jos, Plateau State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Terna Tyopev, who confirmed the incident, said the cows belonged to the Anglican Archbishop of Jos, Benjamin Kwashe.

9. Lionel Messi of Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal on Saturday crashed out from the ongoing World Cup in Russia.

While Messi-led Argentina was trashed 4-2 by France, Ronaldo’s Portugal went down 2-1 to Uruguay.

10. Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has assured that the sealed popular Bodija market will be re-opened.

Ajimobi said this would follow due consultation with the security agencies, community and market leaders and the leaders of the local government area.
