1. Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Prof Itse Sagay, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of having a hand in the crises rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. He also said no power can cripple or frustrate the President Buhari-led government. He said that defectors from the ruling APC, including the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, were making the ruling party sick prior to their exit.
2. Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has formally declared his intention to contest for the presidency in 2019. Dankwambo made his position known on Saturday during a meeting with delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the north-east sub-region. He said he decided to vie for the ticket, after numerous calls and wide consultations with various stakeholders from the zone.
3. A leading chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Joseph Waku, has accused Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, and a former Governor of Benue State, George Akume, of plotting the failed attempt to impeach Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. He alleged that the plot was hatched at the Nasarawa State Government House in Lafia. He disclosed that the plan was to make the suspended Speaker of the Benue House of Assembly, the acting governor of the State.
4. A former National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmed Makarfi has faulted those demanding that Bukola Saraki should resign as Senate President, following his defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC. He urged those making the call to leave the Senate President and his deputy alone, irrespective of the party they belong, saying it will be unconstitutional to call for their resignation based on the party they belong.
5. The Nigerian military conducting Operation Sharan Daji to flush out bandits from Zamfara, on Saturday said it had killed 20 bandits and set free their captives. The Force Information Officer of the operation, Col. Muhammad Dole, disclosed this in a statement in Kaduna.
6. The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has denied that he was planning to dump his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.His Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Uzor, described the report as “laughable.” He said the aim of the rumour was just to make people believe that they are still on ground, but that in reality, the APC is no longer on ground.
7. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has disclosed that the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has conducted a successful attack on a Boko Haram Terrorists’ (BHTs) Hideout in Daban Masara in Borno. Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information said that the operation was carried out on Friday after they got information that the insurgents were gathering for a meeting.
8. Business mogul and former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defense, Chief Mike Okibe Onoja, has decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. Onoja led thousands of his supporters in the Benue South Senatorial District, popularly known as Zone C, as they dumped the APC on Saturday. Onoja also announced his intention to contest for the senatorial seat of the zone.
9. Former military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on Saturday said ex-National Carekaer Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ahmed Makarfi has restored his hope in Nigeria. Speaking at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State when he received Makarfi’s Presidential campaign team, Babangida said the former Kaduna State governor had rekindled his hope in Nigeria through his vision.
10. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that the political elites are not comfortable with President Muhammadu Buhari and have, therefore, ganged up against him. According to the Governor, Buhari had done nothing wrong except that the elite, for fear of molestations for corrupt practices, had risen against him.
