1. Six persons have been confirmed dead after flood submerged communities in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo. Victor Emuankhagbon, Chairman of Esan South LG, made this disclosure when he received a delegation of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and officials of the Federal Ministry of Health at Ubiaja. He said no fewer than 42 communities, 8,000 houses and 35,150 were affected by the flood.
2. Former Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan, has spoken on her exit from the APC and defection to the United Democratic Party, UDP. Mama Taraba had earlier officially resigned her membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also exited the Buhari government. The former Minister claimed she left the APC with all local government party leaders as well as some state lawmakers. She has since picked her expression of interest and nomination forms to run under the party’s platform.
3. A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Dr. Femi Hamzat, has withdrawn from the race. Hamzat, who spoke during a press conference in Lagos on Saturday, said he took the decision to support the ambition of another aspirant, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
4. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole on Saturday inaugurated the Governorship Primary Committees of the party. The 28 committees will conduct the exercise in 28 states across the federation. The primaries will hold on Sunday (today), September 30th, 2018. APC national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, released the list in a statement issued on Saturday evening.
5. The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the governorship primaries for Lagos and Imo States have been shifted. National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, made the announcement on Saturday. He spoke during the inauguration of governorship primary committees in Abuja. The former Edo governor said the primary election in Lagos and Imo will now hold on Monday, October 1, 2018. He said it was being postponed for logistic reasons.
6. The Joint Task Force constituted by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai has found the car belonging to Maj-Gen. Idris Alkali (rtd) who was declared missing since September 3, 2018. The Nigerian Army made the announcement via its Twitter handle on Saturday.
7. The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to pick the party’s governorship ticket for the 2019 election in the state. Sen. Anthony Adefuye, a member of the council, announced the endorsement to party members on Saturday, at a stakeholders’ meeting at the ACME Road state party secretariat. Adefuye said the meeting was chaired by the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
8. The All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra State chapter has unanimously voted for President Muhammad Buhari as consensus candidate of the party in the 2019 presidential poll. Buhari emerged unopposed in a direct primary held by the party across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
9. The Akinwunmi Ambode’s Mandate Support Group (AMSG), on Saturday, said the incumbent Lagos State governor was capable of winning the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state because he had supporters across the state. The Director-General of AMSG, Mr Hakeem Sulaimon, at a news conference in Ikeja on Saturday, said Ambode was not worried about the endorsement of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu ahead of the primary by some groups.
10. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has postponed its governorship primaries in both Lagos and Imo States indefinitely. Also postponed is that of Kano State. The PDP, however, announced that the governorship primaries in other states taking part in the 2019 election would still be held throughout the country on Sunday. National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this public in a statement in Abuja on Saturday night.
