1. The Chairman Sanga Local Government Council, Kaduna State, Mr Charles Danladi, has confirmed the death of 10 persons in an attack on Nandu village in the area. The chairman said in Kafanchan on Saturday that the attack occurred on Friday and 11 houses were burnt.
2. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba Chapter, on Saturday raised the alarm over violence that broke out in Jalingo following the announcement of the governorship election results in the state. Dr Innocent Solomon, the CAN Chairman in the state, after a tour of the affected areas in Jalingo and a sympathy visit to the victims at the Specialist Hospital and the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo assured the people that CAN and the Muslim Council were working closely with the State government to restore peace in the state.
3. The Oyo State Government, Saturday disclosed that there was no fatality in the building that collapsed on Friday in the Sogoye area of Ibadan, the capital city. Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Toye Arulogun, in a statement made available to DAILY POST, said that the multi-agency rescue operation team set up by the Governor of the state was able to achieve the evacuation of all victims from the collapsed building which was under construction as at the time of the incident.
4. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced that the State Government will set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to ensure that the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) personnel who killed Dr Ferry Gberegbe, PDP Khana Collation Agent are brought to justice . Governor Wike also announced a N200 million scholarship for the four children of the Late Dr Gberegbe, directing the widow of the deceased to open bank accounts for each of the four children.
5. Former Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Bem Angwe, was on Saturday shot by some yet to be identified gunmen in Gboko town, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. Report claims that the former NHRC boss was shot in the leg at a filling station around Gyado area of the town at about 10am on Saturday.
6. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Saturday said the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led by Mahmood Yakubu, has refused its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar access to inspect the documents and materials used in the just concluded February 23, presidential election. PDP also reaffirmed that the alleged refusal by the electoral umpire was a direct disobedience to the ruling of the court of Appeal on March 6. PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja.
7. The Police Command in Bayelsa State, said on Saturday that it was on the trail of those who killed a police sergeant and wounded another policeman on Friday night in Yenagoa. The report claims that unknown gunmen on Friday night attacked the two policemen who were on guard duty at Udeme Hotels in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The Spokesman of the police command, DSP Asinim Butswat, said efforts have been intensified to arrest the gunmen.
8. The Nigerian Army on Saturday released the postings and appointments of some of its senior officers. Colonel Sagir Musa, Acting Director Army Public Relations, made the announcement in a statement. The shake-up is the second in 9 days; a similar redeployment was effected March 7.
9. Nigerian actress, Etinosa has opened up on her action of removing her pants and bras on singer, MC Galaxy’s live Instagram video. Stating her reason, the actress/comedian said a big issue weighed her down which she could not handle in a more appropriate way. In a trending video, Etinosa stripped naked while chatting with MC Galaxy.
10. Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of Ogun State, has quit partisan politics. He has also resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In his letter to the national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, Daniel said he decided to leave the scene to rejuvenate his charity based organization, the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) which will literally continue to dispense succour to the people in need, address and assist in the areas of some of their health challenges.
