1. The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II has responded to the query issued to him by the Kano State Government through the office of the SSG Alhaji Usman Alhaji. Sanusi in a letter signed by Abba Yusuf, acting secretary of Kano Emirate Council on Saturday said that the said amount was just over N1.8 billion which he inherited from the coffers of the Emirate. Council. The Media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje who announced this confirmed that the letter containing the reply by Sanusi was received within the stipulated time frame of 48hrs as stated in the query.

2. Similarly, the Kano State Government has said that the ongoing reconciliatory moves between Emir Muhammadu Sanusi and the State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, were facilitated by the African richest person, Aliko Dangote and not President Muhammadu Buhari, as being speculated in some quarters. The Chief Press Secretary to the Government, Abba Anwar, said that Dangote organized and ensured that Ganduje and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi meet to dialogue on their differences, which might lead to a complete reconciliation.

3. The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has advised the Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Ishaq Moddibo Kawu, to clear himself of his involvement in N2.5billion fraud.

CACOL also flayed the NBC, for its indefinite suspension of the operational license of AIT/RAYPOWER Communications, which has led to the outright closure of the media outfit. This was contained in a press release on Saturday by the anti-graft organization’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Debo Adeniran.

4. Ahead of the election of a new Senate President, no fewer than 61 Senators-elect have endorsed Sen. Ahmed Lawan to emerge as the leader of the 9th Senate. Spokesperson of Lawan’s campaign organisation, Sen. Barau Jibrin disclosed that 60 Senators-elect of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and one from YPP endorsed Lawan to emerge as the next Senate President. Their names and signatures were made available to the press on Saturday.

5. Popular cleric and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has accused the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan of looting ‘so much money’ from government treasury. The controversial pastor made the allegation in a post published via his official Twitter handle on Saturday.

6. Sen. Lawan Shuaibu, All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Chairman North, has said that the party’s newly inaugurated five-man disciplinary committee lacked constitutional power to investigate him. He made this known in his letter to the committee chairman, Otunba Niyi Adebayo which was made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja. He advised the committee to follow due process of law and the party’s constitution to avoid dragging it into the muds.

7. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has lamented that barely 24 hours after restoring the radio and television licences of Daar Communications Plc, Africa Independent Television and Raypower 100.5FM have resumed breaching of the broadcasting code. The NBC stated this in a statement on Saturday.

8. Nigeria lost 3-0 to Norway, in their first Group A match, at the ongoing 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Saturday night. The Super Falcons conceded all three goals in the first half. Guro Reiten, Lisa-Marie Utland and an Ohale own goal gave the Scandinavian team a huge advantage going into the break, and it remained same till the end of the full time.

9. No fewer than 19 people lost their lives on Saturday following a road accident on the Akure/Owo highway. The passengers, who were burnt beyond recognition were said to be in transit to the northern part of the country through Ondo State before the accident occurred.

10. The Supreme Court has picked June 17 for the hearing of an appeal filed by the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the September 22 gubernatorial election in Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke. The apex court, while announcing the date for the hearing also listed those that will be on the panel.
