1. One of the judges of the Federal High Court, arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, last weekend, Adeniyi Ademola, has said he was being tried for granting bail to ex-NSA, Sambo Dasuki and as well as his ruling that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, be released. In a letter dated October 11, and sent to Mahmoud Mohammed, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ademola said he was held for over 24 hours before he was told the reason he was dragged to the DSS office.

2. The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has announced the suspension of its 13 officers being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Malam Hazat Sule, said this in a statement. The statement noted that the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, confirmed the suspension.

3. The Defence Headquarters has denied reports that the military is aggrieved that it was not involved in the release of 21 Chibok girls by the Boko Haram sect. A statement on Saturday by the Defence Spokesman, Brig-Gen Rabe Abubakar, noted that the military was working with sister security agencies to ensure the freedom of the remaining girls.

4. The Centre for African Resources, Research and Development (CARRD) ‎has hailed the boldness of Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhamma‎du Buhari over the recent interview she granted the BBC regarding her husband and those working with him, it condemned Buhari’s response to his wife’s complaint, describing it as an embarrassment.

5. Three Nigerians made the list of the 30 players the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced for the African Player of the Year award. They are John Obi Mikel, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Ahmed Musa.

6. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ondo State chapter has disclosed that the verdict of Hon. Justice Abang Okon of the Federal High Court Abuja in respect of the Governorship election in Ondo State slated for 26th November, 2016 was invalid. The party chairman, Faboyede while addressing a press conference on Saturday maintained that Eyitayo Jegede who was earlier picked by the party remains the PDP flag bearer.

7. Controversial legal practitioner, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has chided the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, over its inability to remain a formidable opposition, saying the party has become a perfect study in political failure. Adegboruwa in a statement on Saturday said despite touting itself as the largest party in Africa, the PDP has since lost relevance and become a clear shadow of its old self. He said it does not know how to do the job of the opposition.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that but for the support Nigerians have for his administration, riot would have broken out over his removal of fuel subsidy. Buhari said this in Berlin while addressing representatives of Nigerian community in Germany.

9. Nigeria Navy has warned militants in the Niger Delta region to stop bombing oil facilities or be crushed. The Navy yesterday restated its determination to rid the Niger Delta region of militants by ensuring that the suspected bombers were arrested and brought to book. It boasted that it was closing in on militants operating in the region.

10. A report is claiming that Boko Haram insurgents group was considering giving the Federal Government conditions for the release of more Chibok girls. The report claimed that the Islamic group may insist on upfront payment of huge cash by government before they would be released.
