1. The Super Falcons of Nigeria have won the 12th edition of African Women Cup of Nations for the record 10th time.

Desire Oparanozie fired the Florence Omagbemi-led pass to victory with only six minutes of the encounter left. Asisat Oshola won the golden boot after netting six goals in the competition.

2. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has claimed that its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu was born to bring the dream of Biafra Republic into fruition.

The separatist group lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, saying it has lost touch with reality, adding that there is nothing that will stop Biafra.

3. President Muhammadu Buhari, has once again called on the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, to bear with his administration as it put efforts together to meet their needs.

The President told the ASUU to appreciate the current economic challenges that has financially constrained the Federal Government in meeting its demands.

4. The Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Shehu Sani escaped death on Saturday after some unknown gunmen attacked his campaign office.

The assailants were said to have stormed the property while supporters of the Senator were having a meeting.

5. Some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have called for the sanction of a National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu over his role in the just concluded governorship election in Ondo State.

The party members want the former Lagos State governor punished for faulting the primary election that produced Akeredolu as the party’s flag bearer in the November 26 governorship election.

6. The death has been announced of popular Yoruba actress, Mulikat Adegbola.

Mulika famously known as Ashabi Iya Adinni passed away on Saturday after a brief illness.

7. United States President-elect, Donald John Trump has appointed Nigerian-born Adebayo Ogunlesi, into his economic advisory team.

The 63 year-old Nigerian is the only African face in the 16-man team, which has Steve Schwarzman, CEO of private-equity giant Blackstone as chairman.

8. A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Farida Waziri, has accused the pioneer Chairman of the EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of benefiting from the stolen funds deployed by the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2015 general elections.

She said Ribadu, who was the governorship candidate of the PDP in Adamawa State, received part of the slush funds distributed by the party.

9. There are indications that the proposed mega opposition party in the country will be formed before the end of March, 2017.

According to reports, the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party and aggrieved chieftains of the All Progressives Congress had intensified efforts aimed at forming the party since the result of the Ondo State election was released.

10. Latest report has it that the Federal Government seems to have dumped the case of forgery of the Senate Standing Orders, 2015, allegedly masterminded by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

Report says Federal Government might have closed the case despite a fresh report of further investigation unearthing new facts about the forgery allegations.
