1. There are reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has canceled his much-publicized trip to the deadly Sambisa Forest earlier slated for Monday.

The President has now delegated the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali for the trip.

2. More Nigerians are said to be thinking of committing suicide, a consultant psychiatrist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Dr Yewande Oshodi, has claimed.

According to her, no fewer than 10 percent of all referrals at LUTH were suicide attempts.

3. After 22 months, former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, and his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode met on Saturday for the first time.

Fashola, who is now Minister of Power, Works and Housing and some top officials, were received by Ambode at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

4. All hopes is not lost for the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed optimism that the party would emerge stronger from its current internal feud.

Jonathan, who gave this message of hope when he received the report of Governor Seriake Dickson-led PDP reconciliation committee in his Otuoke country home said the party was set for a big comeback.

5. A former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, has slammed the current government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a blood sucking-evil.

Fani-Kayode, who averred that Buhari is not competent enough to lead Nigeria, said the President had only succeed in turning non Hausa-Fulani Nigerians into second class citizens and slaves.

6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is set to apply to court for arrest warrants against some suspects named in the charges relating to the $1.1bn Malabu oil scam this week.

Report says that the anti-graft agency would soon commence the process of extraditing other suspects, who are abroad and have not shown readiness to submit themselves for trial.

7. The Independent National Electoral Commission has suspended 202 personnel indicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly receiving N23bn bribe disbursed on the instruction of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, ahead of the 2015 general elections.

It was gathered that the management of the electoral umpire also placed the affected officials of the agency on half salaries indefinitely, pending the outcome of their prosecution by the government.

8. A tenant of a landlady on Prince Jamiu Oyebade Street, Ogijo, Ogun State, has been beaten to death by some power-drunk soldiers attached to 174 Battalion, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The victim, 40-year-old Adeola Oyekan, who traded in clothes, died on Friday after she was beaten by some soldiers hired by his landlady’s son.

9. Six persons have been killed in an alleged reprisal on Kasa, Angbaaye, Alabar, and Ayati communities in Zaki Biam Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

A resident blamed security operatives for their alleged laxity in curbing the communal clashes.

10. Senator Ali Ndume has insisted that he is not on a revenge mission against Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Senator Dino Melaye.

According to him, it was the tradition of the Senate to investigate any allegation leveled against members of the chamber.
