1. The Boko Haram sect has reportedly released 80 of the Chibok girls who were abducted in April 2014.

According to report, the 80 abducted school girls regained freedom after further negotiations between the terrorist group and the Federal Government.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of an additional N35billion for the amnesty programme of ex-militants in the Niger Delta region of the country.

According to the presidency, the programme now has N55bn budgeted for it.

3. No fewer than 36 persons were feared dead as two passenger buses collided and caught fire at a quarry site at Km 96, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Saturday.

The ill-fated two 18-seater buses had a head-on collision and the buses caught fire immediately.

4. HRM Eze Israel Okwu Kanu, father to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has declared President Muhammadu Buhari an enemy of Ndigbo.

Elder Kanu said Buhari allegedly harbours hatred against people of the South East.

5. A group, under the auspices of Concerned Nigerians, CN, has given President Muhammadu Buhari two weeks ultimatum to address the nation via a media chat or face a total shutdown.

The group said the silence and non-appearance of Buhari in public was becoming worrisome.

6. The Department of State Services, DSS, has picked up Oil magnate and chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Ifeanyi Ubah.

The agency said the former guber aspirant in Anambra State was arrested on Friday in connection with the theft of petrol kept by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, in his tank farm in Lagos. The product was valued at over N11 billion.

7. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday, explained why he banned open crazing of cattle in the state.

He said the decision was taken to promote state’s economy and protect lives and property in the state.

8. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie Oyegun has urged the people of the South-East to embrace the party, noting that the APC would guarantee their quest for an Igbo president.

Odigie-Oyegun, who spoke at a rally held to welcome former Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime, to the APC, noted that the APC would ‘finally’ bury PDP in the South-East.

9. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has introduced a new method of detecting cheating in the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

JAMP registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, revealed that the anti-cheating measures would also be used to spot examinations officials involved in unprofessional conduct, no matter how highly placed.

10. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has warned the Federal Government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, against implicating and humiliating the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

Ohanaeze warned that it would not watch the anti-graft agency rope Ekweremadu into a financial mess.
