1. Another suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber hit the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) around 10:30am on Saturday. The IED exploded and killed him. No other casualty was recorded.

2. Parents of the Eighty-two Chibok schoolgirls, recently released after being held for more than three years by Boko Haram yesterday arrived in Abuja where they reunited with their children.

3. The Northern Elders’ Forum, NEF, Chairman, Prof. Ango Abdullahi has affirmed that the north is ready if Nigeria decides to break up.

Abdullahi said the North is not aware of any sabotage, adding that there is nothing wrong in Igbo people asking to have a country of theirs.

4. Former Governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime has described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as dead and buried.

According to Chime, who recently joined the APC, no matter how strong one was, when death calls they must answer, adding that the PDP they all belonged to was now dead.

5. BBC has claimed that the Federal Government of Nigeria paid the sum of two million euros to Boko Haram to secure the release of the 82 school girls abducted by the Islamic terrorist group in 2014 in Chibok, Borno State.

The media also claimed that the five Boko Haram Commanders who were swapped for the girls alongside the alleged sum were specialists in bomb making.

6. The World Bank has announced that Nigeria will face what it described as ‘fragile economic recovery’ this year.

According to the global financial organization, Nigeria could build on its oil-driven economic recovery anticipated for it in 2017 by strengthening its macroeconomic policy framework and implementing the structural reforms needed to diversify the economy and break out of a boom and bust cycle.

7. The Arewa Consultative Forum has insisted that President Muhammad Buhari won’t resign over his ill-health as being clamoured in some quarters.

This, ACF said, was because the President had done the needful by transferring power to his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as stipulated by the 1999 Constitution.

8. Ace lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has advised the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo not to sign the 2017 budget because it was illegally increased by the National Assembly.

According to Falana, President Muhammadu Buhari was also not competent to sign the appropriation bill into law because he was on vacation.

9. The All Progressives Congress has called on Nigerians to rise up against any attempt to crash the nation’s democracy.

The party said it was not disturbed about “rumours,” but charged Nigerians to remain vigilant.

10. Former presidential candidate and publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu has begged the founder and General Overseer of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, SCOAN, Prophet T.B Joshua against relocating from the country to Israel.

In his letter on Saturday, Momodu cited the economic pains relocating the Synagogue would cause Nigeria.
