1. A former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife has warned against alleged plans by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to frame-up erstwhile President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Ezeife in a statement on Friday said Buhari’s attempt to pull down Obasanjo will fail unlike his administration had succeeded in pulling the Igbos down.
2. No fewer than three people have been killed, while seven others were injured following the collapse of a two-storey Islamiyya school building under construction at Unguwan Kaya, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Report said that the incident occurred on Friday while construction work was ongoing at the building.
3. President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointment of Dr. Jafaru Alunua Momoh as Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the National Hospital, Abuja.
In a similar vein, the President also approved the reappointment of Dr. Nwadinigwe Cajetan Uwatoronye as Medical Director, National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu, Enugu State, for the second and final term with effect from 5th July 2018 and 30th May, 2018, respectively.
4. Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of planning to frame him up and subsequently send him to jail.
Obasanjo in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Friday said the Buhari-led administration intends to use fake documents and witnesses against him.
5. The Nigerian government has reacted to claim by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was plotting his arrest on false charges.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, while reacting said the Buhari administration will not be distracted by “frivolous allegations from any quarter, especially those cleverly choreographed to divert attention from a widely-acclaimed presidential proclamation and to shore up support for a waning and egotistical cause”.
6. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the nomination of Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, subject to Senate confirmation.
This was contained in a statement signed by the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Friday.
7. Armed bandits have kidnapped no fewer than 23 travellers in the troubled Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State.
The victims according to one Mohammed Kebi, a commercial driver, who escaped the scene of the kidnapping, included a nursing mother and a kid.
8. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday signed the Fourth Alteration Bill that grants financial autonomy to State Judiciaries and State Houses of Assembly into law.
Senator Ita Enang, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (senator), made the disclosure to the State House correspondents on Friday.
9. The Presidency has confirmed that June 12 this year, will not be a public holiday.
A statement posted on Aso Rock’s verified Twitter handle on Friday confirmed that there will be no public holiday on June 12, 2018.
10. President Muhammadu Buhari has signed a constitutional amendment that stops a vice president who completes the term of a president from contesting for the office of the President more than once.
The same is applicable to a deputy governor who completes the term of a state governor, according to Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang.
