1. The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye has accused the Nigeria Police of tormenting his life.
The Kogi senator asked the police to release his passport as ordered by a Magistrate’s Court in the Federal Capital Territory.
2. Bolaji Abdullahi, a former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced his resignation from President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment.
Abdullahi said following his resignation as the National Publicity Secretary of APC and his decision to quit the party, he also decided to resign his appointment as Chairman, Nigeria Sugar Development Council.
3. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday, said its combat aircraft killed several bandits during air attacks near Mashema village and at another location four kilometers Southeast of Yanwari, both in Zamfara.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, said the troops, while on clearance operations near Mashema, came into contact with a group of armed bandits at a location West of Mashema village and therefore requested for air support.
4. The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), retired Col. Hameed Ali has approved the redeployment of 70 Comptrollers.
Ali, who announced this in a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Attah, said among those affected were Comptrollers Abubakar Bashir, who moves from Port-Harcourt II (Onne) to Apapa; Musa Jibrin from Apapa to Human Resources Development.
5. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has clarified reports making the rounds of its exclusion of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from its presidential race.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Kola Ologbobiyan said Atiku was still part of candidates being considered for the party’s presidential ticket.
6. A First republic Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a dictator, calling on Nigerians to end dictatorship in 2019.
According to him, there was no difference between Buhari as military Head of State and Buhari as a democratic president.
7. Four children abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Ngafure village of Dikwa local government council of Borno state in northeast, Nigeria, have reunited with their parents after they were rescued by troops of 22 Brigade, deployed in Operation Lafiya Dole.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Texas Chukwu, said a 36 hand grenades was also recovered during the rescue operations in the Boko Haram hideouts.
8. A former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Addressing supporters at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan, Ladoja recounted efforts by him to stabilize the PDP in the state and in the country and said those sacrifices went unrecognized.
9. Four Bureau DeChange agents have been killed in Oroazi, Obio Akpor Local government area of Rivers State.
Eyewitnesses say the Bureau DeChange agents operate around Hotel Presidential, along Aba road, but were trailed by the gunmen, who opened fire on them in their home.
10. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has said Nigeria’s current power generation has reached 7000 Mega Watts.
According to Fashola, although there was still more to be done, the ministry had moved forward from where it was three years ago.
