1. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has finally published the name of Senator Hope Uzodimma as governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State.
The Senator’s name was pasted at the INEC, office along Port Harcourt road in Owerri, with Akaolisa Cyprain Okechukwu, as his running mate.
2. The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, has been impeached.
The Speaker was on Friday impeached alongside his deputy, Rt. Hon. Iroju Ogundeji, while, Hon. Olamide George has been sworn in as the new Speaker of the house.
3. Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has given the Department of State Services, DSS, and the police order to commence prosecution of some individuals for allegedly aiding the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s escape from the country.
The suit is seeking the arrest and prosecution Femi Fani-Kayode, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Tochukwu Uchendu, and Emmanuel Shallom Ben.
4. The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reacted to the rumour that he has died.
Breaking silence on the issue in a video he shared on social media, Adeleke said he was alive and kicking.
5. The Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Alloy Nwankwo, at the weekend lamented that the country will be totally doomed, if the Nigerian Judiciary gets corrupt.
Justice Nwankwo made this known while delivering his inaugural speech at the 2018/2019 legal year that took place at the court new complex, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
6. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has refused prayer by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to dismiss a suit seeking the governor’s removal from office.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, while delivering his verdict on Friday, dismissed the separate objection filed by Akeredolu and his party.
7. President Muhammadu Buhari has departed for Paris, France to participate in the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum, November 11-13, 2018.
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the forum was organised by the French Government and a number of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
8. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, has stated that the claim by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the Federal Government spends N3.5m monthly on Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky’s feeding is not true.
Spokesman of the sect, Ibrahim Musa, described Mohammed’s claim as a smokescreen to draw public attention away from government’s many violation of El-zakzaky’s rights and those of his followers
9. The Speaker of the Imo House of Assembly, Dr Iheanacho Ihim, has said that there was no impeachment process against the state governor, Rochas Okorocha.
Ihim, who made the clarification in a statement signed by Mr Marcel Ekwezuo, his Chief Press Secretary in Owerri on Friday, said the Governor had carried out his duties within the full provisions of the law.
10. The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Osita Okechukwu, has pointed out areas the Department of State Services, DSS should concentrate on while probing the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Okechukwu also told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to “look into the financial transactions Oshiomhole made within the period under review.”
