1. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday declared that President Jonathan has clearly performed below average. He also said he cannot take responsibility for his failure as he only helped him to assume leadership position and cannot rule for him. Obasanjo spoke during an interactive session with book writers in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of activities marking the popular Ake Festival.
2. Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu has reacted to the Thursday invasion of the National Assembly by the Federal Police. Tinubu, in a statement said that the Jonathan Presidency had lost its head. He said the government had run amok and had discarded all sense of proportion. He said the nation now faces the threats of Boko Haram and of the Presidency’s attack on the people’s democracy.
3. Report says, the Inspector General of Police, Sulieman Abba has ordered the arrest of the Speaker of the House of Representatives . Report says the order was given after the IG appeared before the Presidency to defend why the Police failed to stop the Speaker from gaining access into the Assembly complex on Thursday.
4. Impeached Speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, and his deputy, Tunji Orisalade, have dragged PDP to an Abuja Federal High Court over their alleged impeachment on Thursday by 7 speakers of the PDP amid police protection.
5. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Friday collected his nomination form for the Sokoto State Governorship election at the office the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Sokoto.
6. The founder, Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet T.B. Joshua, has prayed a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja to suspend forthwith the coroner’s inquest into the collapsed building in his church. He also prayed the court to stop the invitation of his person before it as no charge had been brought against him as a person.
7. President Goodluck Jonathan said in London on Friday that the Nigerian Security forces were working so hard to ensure that the Boko Haram insurgents do not capture more territories in the north, boasting that since the past one week, the insurgents have not captured any territory.
8. Ex militant commanders in the Niger Delta have sent a warning message to members of the House of Representatives to stop all moves targeted at impeaching President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that some of the law makers have lost the respect of Nigerians. Speaking under the umbrella of Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative, the former militant commanders said they were behind President Jonathan and would stand against any attempt to embarrass him.
9. With his reinstatement by the Supreme Court, the Taraba State Deputy Governor, Abubakar Sani Danladi Friday fired all political appointees under the sacked acting Governor, Garba Umar. He had as a result directed the affected persons to hand over government property in their possession with immediate effect.
10. Speaker of the House of Representative, Aminu Tambuwal has stated that as a law abiding citizen, he was ready to honour any invitation extended to him by the Police, but cautioned the police not to take side in ongoing squabble but to be objective and politically neutral.
