1. Report has claimed that the eighteen military chiefs and some companies that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe have received invitation from the commission to appear before it on Monday. This is in connection with their involvement in the arms deal since 2007.
2. Relatively, some Northern groups on Friday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to try former military chiefs who were involved in monumental financial misconducts for war crimes. Speaking through the deputy leader, Northern Elders Forum, Dr. Paul Unongo, the group expressed disappointment over the revelation.
3. An Abuja Federal High Court Friday remanded the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh in Kuje prison pending the hearing on his bail application next week Tuesday.
4. The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, has confirmed a case of the deadly hemorrhagic disease, otherwise known as Lassa fever, has been recorded at the Lagos State Teaching hospital (LASUTH), Idi Araba. While speaking on Friday, the Minister said it involves a 25-year-old student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria who is now responding fine to treatment.
5. Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday dismissed the current agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra as a wasted effort, saying those agitating have personal business interest. Obasanjo was speaking at the presentation of a paper entitled: “Resurgent Biafra Agitation: Born in Error, Ignorance and Frustration,” at a public discussion on Biafra, organised by Nextier Advisory in Abuja.
6. Report has claimed that the Nigerian troops fighting insurgents in Yobe, Friday killed many Boko Haram insurgents.. According to a report, the gun duel which took place in a settlement in Babangida area saw many of the insurgents falling to the firepower of the troops.
7. Report has it that suspected militants blew up important pipelines in Warri South West local government area of Delta State on Friday, creating tension among residents of Gbaramatu kingdom and other parts of the State. Report equally has it that multiple explosions hit several oil installations between Ikpokpo and Odidi flow stations, mostly in the same kingdom of Gbaramatu.
8. Major business activities in the Eastern part of the country will as from next week Monday be disrupted following the latest threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, that it will continue its protest if its leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu is not released by the Federal Government.
9. The Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday revealed that the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan threatened to put him in a hole after May 29 for supporting the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari in the April Presidential elections. Oshiomhole, however, said Jonathan is in the same hole now, while he is busy covering the hole.
10. The coordinating Chairman of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the seven Igbo speaking states, Elder Chris Eluemunor has told Catholic priest, Rev’d Fr. Ejike Mbaka to shut his mouth and stop distracting the good works of President Muhammadu Buhari with prophesies that the President’s life was in danger. He advised Mbaka to always pray for the country, instead of creating unnecessary tension.
