1. Founder of Radio Biafra and leader of Independent People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been released from Kuje Prison.

Kanu left the high walls of the prison yard after meeting his bail conditions. He left the prison yard around 5pm amid cheers and eulogies on Friday.

2. Gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen have raided the home of Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, in Ogun state.

Soyinka said he was away when the heavily armed gunmen invaded his residence in Imeko, Abeokuta while he was overseas.

3. There are indications that whistle-blowers are poised to get N2.1bn reward for their whistle-blowing efforts that have led to major discoveries since December 20, 2016.

The payment would only be made after the recoveries have been thoroughly investigated by the anti-graft agencies.

4. The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has insisted that the president will not resign despite his ailing health.

Adesina said that those calling for Buhari’s resignation were merely expressing their opinions and that will not in anyway force the president to resign from power.

5. The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has assured that he would soon expose what led to the ouster of Goodluck Jonathan from power as Nigeria’s president.

Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor said he is currently writing his own book, which will detail the circumstances that led to Jonathan’s defeat during the 2015 presidential election.

6. Prominent Ijaw groups and leaders have asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to kindly accept responsibility for his defeat in the 2015 presidential election.

According to them, Jonathan should stop blaming the North for any conspiracy, stressing that the former president was the architect of what led to his ouster.

7. The Presidency has said the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir David Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ayo Oke, will be investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, if the three-man panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari concludes its work and finds them wanting.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who made this disclosure, noted that both government officials would be handed over to the EFCC if there is need for it.

8. Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, has vowed to remove any traditional ruler who aids kidnapping in the state.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Alhaji Muslim Folami, who stated this, also disclosed that Lagos has acquired five hectares of land, for the permanent settlement of the security operatives in Igbodu community in Epe, to curtail kidnapping.

9. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has called on its followers and people of the South East to ensure that Nigeria is completely “shut down” on May 30 2017.

Emma Powerful, the pro-Biafra group’s spokesman urged its members not to give up their fight for an independent country- Biafra.

10. Immediate past Senate President, David Mark, has revealed how former First Lady, Patience Jonathan contributed to the defeat of her husband, Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 presidential election.

Mark, who spoke in the book, ‘Against the Run of Play’ written, Olusegun Adeniyi, alleged that both Jonathan and his wife turned former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Governor of Sokoto State into a political foe.
