1. A former Spokesperson to the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, has said that the call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari must be handled with care, arguing that the President is also human and could be ill at any time. He also insisted that that the 2019 election should still be zoned to the Northwest where the president hails from.
2. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has named Mrs. Folashade Oke, wife of the suspended Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ayo Oke as the owner of Flat 7B, No. 13, Osborne Road, Osborne Towers where $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 was discovered in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
3. Report says nine Chadian soldiers were reportedly killed in a Boko Haram attack on an army post in the Lake Chad region on Friday. Many Boko Haram members were also killed as the army responded to the attack on the Kaiga Post.
4. Civil society organisations and some lawyers have issued an ultimatum to the Presidency, asking that president Muhammadu Buhari’s true health status be publicly disclosed on or before May 29, to put to rest the speculations that the government has been hijacked by a cabal. They have threatened that should the government fail to act, they will hold protests throughout the country against the alleged cabal in the presidency.
5. About 113 students of the Nasarawa State University have been dismissed over fake results. The students were caught with the fake documents between 2014 and 2017, the institution said. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Akaro, disclosed this at the fifth combined convocation ceremony of the institution, stating that about 76 first class students were among the graduates.
6. President Muhammadu Buhari Friday attended the Jumaat service at the presidential villa mosque. His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement on Thursday hinted that his principal might observe the prayers.
7. What would have turned bloody on Friday was averted as the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Plateau State and the Markafi factions attempted to take over the party secretariat in Jos, a move that was vehemently resisted by the Ahmed Makerfi led faction. 8. A terrible accident involving two camry cars occurred in Abuja at the early hours of Saturday. Two persons, including a SAS police officer were killed in the accident which occurred on Gwarinpa Expressway. The third person who was in a critical condition was rushed to the hospital.
