1. The Presidency on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari would not fail to sack any government official found culpable of corrupt practices.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, in a statement said Buhari would sack government officials same way he did former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke.

2. Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has ordered the arrest and arraignment of the committee members sent to monitor the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses on Saturday.

The Governor also charged the police to set all machinery in motion for the arrest and prosecution of the state chairman of the party, Dr Hilary Eke, who he claimed was at the centre of the ugly incident.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s quest for re-election will further divide and impoverish Nigerians.

The opposition party said what Buhari would want Nigerians to believe when he spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Daura, Katsina Stateon Saturday was in sharp contrast to what he stands for.

4. Six cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, of the Police Academy Wudil, Kano and two other passengers lost their lives on Sunday in a car accident along the dilapidated Kano-Zaria expressway.

The cadets, including a female cadet ASP Aisha Bello, were said to be on their way home after a semester break when the Golf model car they were travelling in had a head-on collision with a J5 model bus.

5. Dr, Francis Adedayo has been elected as the new President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Adebayo was elected on Sunday at the end of the association’s 58th Annual General Conference and Delegates’ Meeting held in Abuja.

6. The death has been announce of Imam Muhammad Lawal, the Chief Imam of the Katsina Metropolis Central Mosque.

Lawal died at the age of 95 on Sunday, May 6, after a protracted illness, according to his family spokesman, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed.

7. No fewer than 27 persons have been reportedly killed and several houses set ablaze after suspected bandits attacked Gwaska village in Brinin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, during the weekend.

The attackers were said to have also burnt down about 3,000 houses in the village and survivors mostly women are now taking refuge at Doka district in the area.

8. National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has written to the United Nations (UN), accusing President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of threatening the nation’s democracy.

Secondus in the letter, dated April 30 and addressed to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said the APC-led Federal Government was frustrating legitimate opposition, intimidating and persecuting their leaders and destroying the fragile fabrics of the nation’s burgeoning democracy.

9. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has once again refuted the report of his alleged plan to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The governor said he remained loyal to the ruling party and had no plan to defect to another party.

10. A former presidential spokesperson, Doyin Okupe, has said the Coalition for Nigeria Movement will present a credible candidate who will defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

Okupe said since it would be a difficult task to oust an incumbent, the CNM would scout for a credible candidate who can defeat Buhari
