1. Governor Umar Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has won the controversial Kano State governorship election.
Ganduje won with a margin of less than 9,000 votes after the collation of figures for the supplementary elections held on March 23, 2019.
2. Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Benue State governorship election.
Announcing the result on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Prof Sebastian Maimako, said Ortom of the PDP polled 434,473 votes to humble APC’s Jime, who came behind with 345,155 votes, thus, winning with 89,318 margin.
3. Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Sokoto State, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
Governor Tambuwal polled 512,002 votes to defeat Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came close behind with 511,661, losing to his erstwhile principal with just 341 votes.
4. The Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the incumbent Governor of Plateau State and candidate of the ruling APC, Simon Lalong, as Governor-elect of the state.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Richard Anande, who declared the result, said the incumbent Governor got 595, 587 votes, while his closest rival and candidate of the main opposition PDP, Senator Jeremiah Useni, got 546, 813 votes.
5. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Aliyu, Senator Aliyu Wamakko has accepted defeat over Sokoto state rerun election.
Wamakko, while accepting defeat, put a call through to Tambuwal and congratulated him on his victory
6. The Benue chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rejected the outcome of the Governorship election declared on Sunday, in favour of Gov Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party said in a statement on Sunday in Makurdi that the results did not reflect the wishes of the people, saying that APC would challenge the results in court.
7. Traditional ruler of the Obosi town in Anambra state, Igwe Chidubem Iweka II, has suspended Chief Osita Chidoka, who is a former Minister of Aviation and spokesman of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, from the Council of Chiefs.
Iweka announced in a statement during the weekend, the suspension of Chidoka, and two others, Chief Linus Mgbakaogu and Chief Hyacinth Udemba for their alleged involvement in bringing the corpse of two Obosi youths killed during the March 9 re-run election to the palace.
8. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has promised to attract more development and other dividends of democracy to the state during his second term in office.
Ortom made the promise on Sunday in Makurdi while interacting with newsmen over his re-election..
9. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayodele Oke and his wife, Folasade, wanted for failing to appear in court to answer for the N13bn money laundering charges against them.
Oke and his wife are wanted in connection with the $43m, £27,800 and N23.8m cash recovered by the commission from an apartment at Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, in April 2017.
10. Senator Jeremiah Useni, gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau has vowed to challenge the re-election of Gov Simon Lalong for another term.
Useni said that he and his team had gone through both the official results released by INEC and the documents submitted by the party’s field staff and had reservations.
