1. A former speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’Abba has officially resigned as member of the Peoples Democratic Party. Umar, in a letter addressed to the PDP accused President Jonathan of destroying the party.
2. Former Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has said that the APC has enough evidence to prove to Nigerians that President Jonathan was planning to set up an interim government. Fayemi made this statement in Aramoko Ekiti on Sunday.
3. Report says INEC electoral institute in Abuja was on Sunday gutted by fire, destroying some old election forms, bags, and envelops. INEC however said that the destroyed materials were non-sensitive and will therefore not affect the coming elections. Fire was however caused by power outage.
4. The Agatu people of Benue State witnessed yet another black Sunday when about 70 Fulani herdsmen reportedly stormed Egba community, in the local government, killing over 95 persons and leaving several residents injured.
5. The All Progressives Congress, APC has cautioned the PDP and the Federal Government to avoid any plan to kill its Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. The APC’s Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed has alleged that some security men have been trained as snipers to eliminate Gen. Buhari and others who are opposing the current government.
6. The Police in Lagos have nabbed one Abdllahi Omobolaji for allegedly violating a 17-year-old teenager sexually. Omobolaji, an Alfa, was arrested in Agege area of the state after having had carnal knowledge of the young girl countless number of time.
7. The All Progressives Congress, APC, supporters have been accused of killing two leaders of the PDP in Akuku Toru. The state Chairman of PDP, Chief Felix Obuah has as a result called for the arrest of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Fenibo Jack over the incident.
8. The Nigerian Army will today in a conference holding in Abuja discuss security issues as they affect the coming elections. The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman made the disclosure in an electronic mail.
9. A number of Arewa leaders had while receiving Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, in Lagos on Sunday, said they refused to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars which was offered to them by President Goodluck Jonathan in his visit last two weeks.
10. Homes of residents of Bama have been set on fire by the islamist Boko Haram as they got wind of the military effort to reclaim Bama. Report says as the Nigerian troops approached Bama, residents were told by the terrorists to leave the community while at the same time setting their homes on fire.
