Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday denied media reports that he and the Peoples Democratic Party spent N2tn for the 2015 general election campaigns. He equally debunked the reports that he has set up a committee to conduct an audit of how the elections funds were spent by party members and state officials.

2. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that having asked for forgiveness from the opposition and others does not make him a coward, as his tenure in office will be determined by God. He said the essence of the genuine reconciliation was to ensure that peace returns to the state.

3. Nigerian Consul-General in South Africa, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, disclosed on Sunday that the on-going xenophobic attacks in South Africa has cost Nigerians living in the country more than N21m Rand (1.2m)

4. Reports says the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress will meet this week to conclude on the zoning of key positions in the National Assembly ahead of the May 29 handover.

5. The World Health Organisation has disclosed that pesticide poisoning may be responsible for the mysterious deaths in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State where of over 18 people are reported to have been killed.This was disclosed by WHO spokesman, Gregory Hartl.

6. The Chairman Senate Committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije, is dead. The lawmaker died on Sunday evening after a prolong battle with cancer of the lung. The 75-year-old Senator died at the Abuja Turkish hospital.

7. In an effort to ensure that he is not impeached by the APC lawmakers, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has asked the people to defend their mandate. Consequently, the Okada riders association and the commercial transport workers operating in the state are mobilizing to converge on the premises of the state House of Assembly this morning to stop the 19 APC lawmakers from carrying out their threat.

8. Chairman of the River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Felix Obuah, has debunked media report that he has been on the run since investigation into the killing of a former council boss in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, Chief Chris Ndube was opened by the police. He denied knowing anything about Ndube’s murder.

9. A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Ogun State and the Ogun East senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was allegedly working with local and foreign security agencies to extradite him to the United States of America through illegal means. He said Obasanjo was doing so because of his defeat in the PDP.

10. The National Association of Nigerian Students has warned the South African government to, within seven days, stop the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in the country or risk attack on its investments in Nigeria. The student body threatened that if nothing is done within this 7-day ultimatum, life would be made unbearable for South Africans living in Nigeria.
