Nigerian Newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Monday morning

Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. A meeting has been scheduled to hold today (Monday) between the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and petroleum product marketers in order to resolve their disagreement over subsidy payment and to subsequently end the ongoing scarcity of fuel. The meeting will hold in Abuja.

2. Report says the All Progressives Congress governors will be meeting with President-elect, Gen. Buhari on Tuesday to discuss mainly on ministerial nominee. The meeting will also be attended by all governors-elect under the party’s platform.

3. The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of an alleged supplier of fuel and food to the members of the Boko Haram at Daban Shata, a suburb of Baga, Borno State. The man who has been on the list of the most wanted Boko Haram members was nabbed on Sunday.

4. The Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba has joined others to blamed the Peoples Democratic Party governors for President Jonathan’s defeat in the recently concluded presidential election. Speaking in Abuja, Egba said that the PDP went on the path of defeat as from December 2014 primaries when the governors deliberately shut out “unwanted candidates” and imposed their own on the party.

5. The lawmakers-elect for the Ekiti State House of Assembly have said that despite their loyalty to the governor, Fayose, they would not be used as tools when they take over legislative duty of the state, assuring that the principle of separation of power will guide their activities.

6. The Abia State governor-elect, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has suspended for the meantime, all courtesy visits by his supporters. He explained that the decision will enable him to adequately plan for the task ahead.

7. Latest report shows that majority of the rescued women and young girls from the Sambisa forest are pregnant. unofficial reports say latest number of pregnant girls in one of the camps in Borno as at last Saturday remains at 214.

8. Chelsea football club, Sunday became the 2015 league champion after beating Crystal Palace at home with a lone goal. The latest victory makes it Chelsea’s fifth league title.

9. Following the controversy that trailed the recent audit report of the NNPC, the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts on Sunday asked the Federal Government and its agencies to henceforth stop transacting business with PricewaterHouseCooper, the firm that investigated the alleged $20bn missing oil money, saying the firm can no longer be trusted.

10. Report says death toll in the recent fight between some villagers and soldiers in Kadarko, Kurmi and Wadata villages of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State has risen to 39 against the earlier reported 30.
