1. Somalian President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has disclosed that Boko Haram fighters sometimes carry out trainings in his country before coming to Nigeria for attacks. Mohamud was quoted to have made this disclosure while addressing a security conference in Germany on Sunday.
2. Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State was on Sunday sworn-in for a second term in office. In his address, Dickson dedicated his victory to the people of the state, promising to move the state forward in terms of security and other important projects that will further develop the state.
3. Gunmen have kidnapped 85-year-old Mrs Patience Tam-George, mother of the Rivers State commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George. Report says that Mrs. Tam-George was kidnapped on Saturday night at about 8:55pm while she was on her way from church at Giogioma community in Okrika local government area of Rivers State.
4. Report has it that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered N84m from the immediate past Director of Finance and Budget of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore O. O. Gbadebo. According to the report, the money was allegedly diverted from the account of the Air Force as confessed by Gbadebo.
5. Members of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, AMEN, yesterday alleged that the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga transfered Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka from his former Parish in GRA, Enugu because of the pressure mounted on him by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state. This was contained in a statement signed by Kingsley Eze, Igbo Youth Kaduna, Sunday Ukam, JP; ( Enugu Adorer) Adedije Wale (Osun State, Adorer), Barr Ike Maximus Ugwuoke, (Enugu, Adorer) and twenty others.
6. The police have deployed its officers in the creeks of Bayelsa State in search of a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, otherwise known as Tompolo. This according to report, is based on an order by the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase to the Bayelsa State Police Command to carry out Tompolo’s arrest in compliance with the order of a Federal High Court, Lagos. The report further claims that the Force Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole, confirmed the IG’s order.
7. A suspected madman, who identified himself as Lanrewaju Jaiyeola, 39, has been arrested by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of Lagos State Police Command. He was arrested with 22 Automatic Teller Machine, ATM, cards, two mobile phones and power bank in Victoria Island.
8. Report from the United Kingdom has it that Chief of the London Metropolitan Police, Bernard Hogan-Howe, will be answering questions from UK parliamentarians next week over claims that Scotland Yard officers investigating former Delta State governor, James Ibori, were involved in a deliberate cover-up and bribery in order to reveal details of the investigations that could have helped the convicted politician escape being jailed.
9. Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, has said that the Senate has not suspended deliberation on the 2016 budget as widely reported, but it only said that the February 25 deadline for submission was no longer visible. The Senate Leader, however, said that March was the deadline for the implementation of the 2015 budget, and that the Senate would pass the 2016 budget before that time.
10. Report has it that the family house of the former Senate President, David Mark has been attacked by security men attached to the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu. Report has claimed that sporadic gunshots were fired into Senator Marks residence in Otukpo on the evening of Sunday. The report further claimed that the Deputy Governor’s security operatives shot into Mark’s residence while the campaign train of Dan Onjeh was returning from Adoka, near Otukpo.
