1. Protesters on Sunday stormed the Guzape Hill, headquarters of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, to voice out over the rape allegation against the senior pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo.
The protesters, despite the heavy security presence registered their displeasure over the series of rape allegation against Pastor Fatoyinbo, thus forcing the cleric to boycott preaching and called of the yearly convention earlier slated for today, July 1.
2. Meanwhile, wife to Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has broken silence on the rape allegations by Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola against general overseer of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA.
Speaking in COZA Abuja on Sunday morning, Pastor Modele Fatoyinbo denied the allegation against her husband.
4. No fewer than 20 people were in the early hours of Sunday killed by suspected herdsmen in Okokolo village, Agatu LGA of Benue State.
Report said the attackers also burnt down several houses and valuables.
5. The Middle Belt Forum, MBF, said it has unequivocally rejected in totality the proposed establishment of Ruga settlements in the region by the federal government.
The forum noted that the policy seeks to exclusively benefit a particular ethnic group against the rest of Nigerians.
6. Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission has declared the All progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of all the 27 local government chairman elections.
A statement by the state JISIEC chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Ahmad, said the election, which was conducted among seventeen different political parties, was peaceful and in accordance with state electoral guidelines of the commission.
7. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reacted to comments by former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, against the commission.
EFCC spokesman, Tony Orillade, in a statement Sunday night, said Saraki claimed that acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, begged him to help his confirmation by the Senate.
8. A commercial driver, Felix Akinde, who was kidnapped last week Tuesday in Ondo State has been set free by his abductors.
Akinde was freed over the weekend after spending days in kidnappers’ den, following his kidnap while in transit to Akure, the Ondo State capital from Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
9. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed a video footage showing the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters capturing a naval Base in North East Nigeria.
The acting director Defence Information, Col Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement Sunday night, said it was the terrorists’ attempt to disseminate and propagate false information in order to present a public image of a virile force.
10. Nigeria Super Eagles fell 2 – 0 to Madagascar on Sunday in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nation in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Eagles will now meet Ghana in the round of 16.
