1. Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has said that he has forgiven those behind the alleged forgery case against him.

Ekweremadu said for the interest of peace and the love he has for the nation, he has forgiven those who wanted to ruin his political career since the Federal Government has withdrawn the case against him and other principals of the national assembly.

2. Rivers State Governor ,Nyesom Wike has faulted the claims by the Department of State Services that it recovered a huge amount of money during nationwide raids on homes of judges.

Governor Wike said the National Judicial Council is responsible for disciplining erring and corrupt judges, after which indicted judicial officers are handed over to the relevant law enforcement agency for prosecution and not the DSS.

3. The Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Dino Melaye has condemned the arrest and invasion of the residence of some Judges by the Department of State Services during the weekend.

Melaye, who said although judges have no immunity and could be tried, the use of DSS by government was “absolutely wrong and unacceptable.”

4. Suspended lawmaker and a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said he regrets supporting the emergence of the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

Jbrin, who said he was deceived by the appearance of Dogara, denied being sacked, saying that he only resigned his position when the pressure became unbearable.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari will today hand over some aircraft in the Presidential Air Fleet to the Nigerian Air Force.

The ceremony would hold at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

6. Abductors of four students, a teacher and the Junior School Principal of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla in Epe, Lagos State have reduced their ransom demand to N30 million from N120 million.

It was gathered that the kidnappers have reached out to the families of the victims. While one of the parents was told to produce N20 million, another was asked for N10 million.

7. A former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Soludo, have affirmed that the current political arrangements in Nigeria will not bring about the desired development of the country.

The elder statesman told newsmen that Nigeria had underperformed due to its current 36-states structure, where all the states were dependent on the central government for survival.

8. The Presidency has insisted that the recent arrest of some judges in the country was not an attack on the judiciary.

In a statement issued by Garba Shehu, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, he said President Buhari remains a committed democrat, in words and in his action, and will not take any action in violation of the constitution.

9. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed that internet users on Nigeria’s telecommunications networks increased to 93,591,174 as at August 2016.

The regulatory body made this known in its monthly Internet Subscriber Data, noting that internet usage on the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks increased by 167,819.

10. The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated their Zambian counterpart yesterday in Ndola by 2 goals to 1 in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi gave the Nigerian lads victory in the tension-soaked match.
